Mission Statement

TOG mission is to take steps to respond to the urge of the city of Milan and to support the national health system by offering free-of-charge rehabilitation therapies to 114 children, with the aim of stimulating the development of their personality and enhancing their abilities, despite the complexity of the pathology. TOG designs a complete and tailor-made rehabilitation program for each child, taking into consideration his/her characteristics, living environment, abilities as well as difficulties. Rehabilitation is the exclusive focus, whereas for diagnosis, surgery and internal medicine, TOG collaborates with Child Neuropsychiatry Units, as well as with large diagnostic centres in Italy. TOG sustains its services to children exclusively through fundraising. In addition to therapies, Fondazione TOG is active in the training field with courses targeted to healthcare professionals and carries out technological innovation projects to improve the quality of life of children with infantile cerebral palsy. Among these, it has set up a 3D printing laboratory for the production of custom-made aids and was a partner in Careables, a research project funded by the Horizon 2020 program about co-design methodology for people with disabilities.

About This Cause

FONDAZIONE TOGETHER TO GO (TOG) ONLUS is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2011 and located in Milan (Italy). It runs a centre for the rehabilitation of children with complex neurological pathologies resulting from neonatal traumas, a genetic basis and the embryonic and/or fetal development. In Italy, as in most Western countries, the incidence of neurological diseases is stable and ranges from 2 to 3 cases out of 1.000 births. The children and young people with cerebral palsy and genetic syndromes have motor, cognitive, behavioral or communication deficits and the rehabilitation represents the only impactful treatment to improve their life. But after diagnosis and assessment, local public health structures can partially meet the demanding needs of these children, providing treatments which are insufficient in terms of quality and quantity. Then, in Italy, including the city of Milan, the waiting lists to access rehabilitation are very long, and children with chronic, complex and strongly invalidating diseases manage eventually to start the therapies after many months compromising the prompt effectiveness.
