Mission Statement
Istituto delle Suore delle Poverelle also known as Istituto Palazzolo is a civilly recognized ecclesiastical body (1934). Saint Luigi Palazzolo and mother Teresa Gabrieli, founders in 1869 of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Poor, left a mandate to constantly maintain an attitude of seeking, welcoming and caring for the most fragile people. For more than 150 years, this principle has inspired the action and commitment of the Palazzolo Institute in the 18 locations in Italy and in the African and South American states where it operates. Istituto Palazzolo's intervention is based on a constant, fruitful and enriching collaboration between religious and lay people, professionals and volunteers, united by a common desire to devote attention, time and skills to minors removed from their families, women victims of violence, the elderly, people with disabilities and other categories of adults in conditions of hardship and marginalization.
