Mission Statement
PH-Japan (Peoples' HOPE Japan) is an international NGO that is giving hope to the people of Asia and empowering them to lead healthy and happy lives by providing education on health and medical care. We are focusing on maternal and health care education. PHJ got its start in 1997 as Project HOPE Japan, the Japan organization of the US NGO, Project HOPE. In 1999, it won a certification as a specified non-profit organization (NPO) by the Japanese Government. In 2001 it became the first NPO to be accredited as a certified NPO by the Japan Tax Agency. In 2006 it was reorganized as an independent organization and changed its name to PH-Japan (Peoples' HOPE Japan).
About This Cause
True to its vision statement of "health and hope for all, " PHJ provides education on health and medical care to empower the people of Asia, and provides medical and health support in disaster relief. 1.Health and medical care educational support: Maternal and child health care improvement in Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar: Aiming at improvement of maternal and child health in rural areas, PHJ is extending maternal and child health care education and required skill training to health center midwives, traditional birth attendants and health volunteers of villages, meeting the local requirements in close cooperation with the municipal health administration as well as local communities. Other supports in Thailand include the HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Project directed to university and technical school students and the pediatric cardiovascular surgery support project. These Thai projects will be transferred to the local health administration office, hospitals, universities, technical colleges, and other organizations at the end of October 2016 when the PH-Japan Thailand Office will be closed. Supports in Japan: PHJ organizes seminars and participates in events to introduce its health and medical educational support projects in Southeast Asia. 2. Disaster Relief Support PHJ extends disaster support in its project sites and other Asian countries. In Japan, since March 11, 2011, PHJ has been implementing the East Japan disaster relief and reconstruction support project. In 2016 it organized the Kumamoto Earthquake support through All Japan Hospital Association.
