Mission Statement

Good Neighbors Japan (GNJP) is an International humanitarian and developmental non-governmental organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). GNJP opened as legal personality of non-profit organization as Good Neighbors Japan in Osaka in 2004, and moved to Tokyo in 2007. GNJP also has a 'Acknowledged NPO' status from Tokyo government since 2008 which only given to an NPO with the highest public interest and transparency of its management. Good Neighbors International has its offices in 35 developing countries in the world, and GNJP specifically supports 8 countries among them. GNJP strives to improve children's lives, through education, food, shelter, community development, medical care, advocacy and emergency relief projects.

About This Cause

OUR VISION : A society in which children smile, and in which everyone can live like a human being. OUR MISSION: To come together with people from around the world to put an end to the cause of poverty and discrimination, and to remove the threat of disaster and conflict. GNJP has made great strides in its mission by providing people around the world with a better quality of life since its establishment. We specifically supporting 8 countries in Asia and Africa; Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Chad. Moreover, GNJP is hosting various advocacy programs within Japan to introduce about the importance of 'International Cooperation' and attitude as a global citizen to Japanese children and people. We would like to introduce our work into 5 big categories(education, health/medical/public health, water sanitation, income generation and emergency relief) and share some of our latest work. For education, this includes construction and operation of schools and libraries. We provide tutoring and enrichment education, as well as activities to enhance the quality of education, from teachers subject training to conduct adult literacy education. For Health/Medical/Public Health, In addition to providing health diagnostics and vaccines, we operate day care centers for preschool children, which offer nutritious school lunches. For Water Sanitation, Good Neighbors constructs wells and toilets for hygienic environmental improvement, as well as providing a means of purifying unsafe drinking water. For Income Generation, we aim to help young people and adults enhance their productivity by leading skill training such as sewing, English, and computer skills, as well as the technical training needed for agricultural technology, fisheries, and livestock. In the event of emergency relief, GNJP cooperate with Japanese govenrment and NGO platform in Japan, and provide humanitarian services such as medical assistance, psychological care, and distribution of food and emergency relief supplies. One of our latest work in education would be the re-construction of damaged school in Nepal. due to the big earthquake in 2015 in Nepal, many schools have been destroyed. GNJP is now working on 2 years project with about $50,000 funded by the Community chest of Japan to reconstruct the damaged school in Parbat area, which is the one of the most-damaged area from the latest earthquake. For health and water sanitation, with the donation of an individual sponsor from Japan, GNJP constructed a toilet inside the school of rural village in Cambodia with the fund of $3,500. Also sponsored by a Japanese recycling company, GNJP installed a solar water pump system in another villages in Cambodia, where the water system is truly needed. GNJP also supporting an income geneartion groups for the sustainable community development. Last year, GNJP supported organizing a sewing income generation group consisted of women in Bangladesh. By organizing the groups and train them a proper skills, we support the sustainable development of themselves and the community. GNJP's latest activity for human relief is for the Haiti hurricane in 2016. GNJP distributed emergency relief food kit and materials to 1,510 families who effected by the hurricane. GNJP is now in the process of preparing an emergency relief project for the Rohingya refugees formed in Bangladesh. GNJP will keep up the hard work to support all the less benefitied children in the world in all aspects we can help.
