About This Cause

Athanas Mbele Foundation is a registered a non-profit organization, private and non-political organization with its head office in Wundanyi, Coastal Kenya. We offer various community services and charitable programs in partnership with other entities and well-wishers. Our programs are focused on rural interior communities in Arid Areas and villages, ranging from Poverty, Education, Opportunities for special interest groups, Agriculture, Climate change, Water and sanitation programs, Health care and Community development. Our mission is; “Changing Lives In The Rural Communities In Kenya” We have sanitary towels distribution through digital dispensers, solar street lighting program, school performance improvement programs, women and youth empowerment programs, climate change, drug abuse and other poverty eradication programs, B. OUR ACTIVE PROGRAMS 1) Community Services Programs a. Free Tents And Chairs- to events and functions in Taita Taveta county villages to carry with the community the financial burden especially on social events like funerals and community functions b. Opening up rural Roads- the foundation has opened up a number of rural roads in Taita Taveta by repairing and upgrading especially during rainy season which makes village transport extremely impossible hindering movement of goods and people from rural interiors to towns. c. Donations In Kind- foundation collects donations like clothes, food stuffs, books, shoes and items that can be donated to the deserving in the community and children homes d. Mbele Rescue Team (MRT) - an emergency response team starting with Taita Taveta County that will be compliments existing available infrastructure, organization and county government to responding to disaster, emergencies, fire, rescue and minor accidents within the communities and will be available in most social events without charge. e. Taa Mashinani – a solar street lighting program to select village centers aimed at ensuring a 24-hour economy in the villages, security, and green energy program. f. Medical Camps and blood drive – The foundation has participated and organized medical camps and blood drives provide free health services, save lives, improve health, and encourage volunteerism. 2) Youth, Women & PLWD Programs a) Bodaboda Festival - An event targeting the entire coast region for Bodadoda (motor cycle) whose objectives include, but not limited to: i. Financial Empowerment of Bodaboda ii. Inject focus, showcase and award of Bodaboda SACCO projects iii. How to become a Bodaboda boss practical peer talks iv. Bodaboda Talent show (Music, Dance and Art) v. Life after bodaboda riding vi. Presentations from our partners like on Savings, Motorbike offers, Insurance, First aid & road safety vii. Feasting together viii. Environmental – Tree planting g. AMF Careers - A platform that seeks open job opportunities from partner organizations, share them and assist the youths in rural Taita taveta apply and give them better chances of acquiring them. h. Mbele Super Cup – Starting 2024 tournament aimed at tapping into raw football talent in the coastal region, community transformation through football empowering the community by offering an alternative to negative influences for youths to engage in constructive activity to combat social issues like unemployment, drugs, mental health & crime. i. Mbele iko Sawa – a women groups empowerment forum targeting widows in coastal rural areas to foster enterprise development and equip them with skills to grow their group projects 3) Education j. Kipepeo - MENSTRAL HYGENE PROGRAM TO COSTAL RURAL ARID SCHOOL; This fundamental initiative is aimed to ensure that no girl in rural arid and semi arid areas is held back because the menstruate. Tackle men’s participation to menstrual talk as a norm and mental health and drug abuse conversations in schools. Together we can end menstrual poverty/stigma in rural across Coastal Kenya. k. Bursary Plus Programs- through well-wishers and partner organizations to offer tuition fees for student in rural coastal areas. This year through a patner we have issued 16 full scholarships fees for student in rural coastal areas. This year through a patner we have issued 16 full scholarships 4) Agriculture & Environment l. Jeki 1. Offering subsidized semen to dairy cattle farmers to the people at subsidized prices that complement the freshian breeds to have resilient dairy animals suitable for Semi Arid areas. Like Arshiyer, Sahiwal, Jersey, Brownswizz and Guernsey. This is because climate change has reduced production of fodder and there’s need of inter breeding of dairy cows with ones that eat less & produce more. 2. Offering seedlings and seeds to farmers in groups during planting seasons based on regional agricultural & market advantages. m. Farmers Tea Forums - A farmers teaching and training program to improve skills, knowledge, empower framers, equip with new skills and open up market opportunities. C.
