About This Cause
The organization has overseen several research and implementation projects. Our largest implementation project was FACES (Family AIDS Care and Education Services) provided HIV care to more than 150,000 patients in Nairobi, Kisumu, Migori and Homabay counties in Kenya. The Organization also supported SEARCH - Sustainable East Africa Research in Community Health project which was amongst the first projects to achieve the UNAIDS 90/90/90 at community level in Suba and Rongo communities of Migori County Kenya. In addition, we received two County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF) grants from the UKAid. A total of €600,000 was awarded to us to develop the MAccess, a program on maximizing access and utilization of maternal and newborn health services using mobile technology solutions, and the eMCHR – electronic Maternal Child Health Record project aimed at improving retention of mother-baby pairs along the Maternal Neonatal Child Health (MNCH) continuum of care. In collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in an Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) project within 13 counties in Kenya, we provided technical support in identification, linkage and provision of psychosocial services for the OVCs infected with HIV. The Organization is currently subcontracted by Moi University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) to undertake an OVC project in Kisumu County at the subcounties of Nyakach, Nyando and Muhoroni with an ultimate goal of increased access to quality health and social services for OVC and their families. This also includes an aspect of Household Economic Strengthening where we walk with the vulnerable families on ways of attaining economic independence through training, linking then to Organizations which can offer the skills they need and also the financing they need for them to start their businesses or to revive them. We also train them on savings and enroll them into savings groups all to lead them on a journey to self reliance (J2SR). Other projects include a Sickle cell new born screening research project dubbed CONSA and funded by American Society of Hematology as well as administrative role in ‘Solidarity Vaccine Trials’ funded by World Health Organization through University of Nairobi KAVI project.
