About This Cause
CHANCE Association is officially registered as a non-profit organization in both Lebanon and Switzerland, whose mission is to help Lebanese children with cancer and blood disorders to access treatment. Children with cancer have high cure rates, and CHANCE firmly believes financial difficulties should never be an obstacle to successful treatment. Founded in 2005, the organization (license number 52/AD) helps young patients with cancer and blood disorders receive the necessary treatment and helps cover expenses related to their therapy (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medications, lab work, imaging, and other therapy-related care) when families don't have the financial means to do so. Since 2005, CHANCE Association has helped over 800 children fight their battle with cancer, by covering the costs of their chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments across numerous hospitals in Lebanon, including LAUMC-Rizk hospital, Hotel Dieu de France, St. George hospital, Abou Jaoude Hospital, Clemenceau Medical Center, Ste Therese, and others. Currently, CHANCE Association is actively supporting 120 children with their cancer treatment across 8 hospitals in Lebanon. This includes treatment, therapies, lab work, imaging, and medication. Since 2006, CHANCE has been an active member of Childhood Cancer International (CCI), representing Lebanon and joining 176 childhood cancer parent organizations in 93 countries, in their battle against childhood cancer. CHANCE Association is led by a team of highly qualified medical practitioners including CHANCE President Roula Farah MD, FAAP, Board certified by the American Boards of Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, its Vice President Paul-Henry Torbey MD, Pediatric Oncologist, along-side the Medical Committee and Board. The Beirut explosion of August 4th, 2020 added to the pre-existing economic crisis in Lebanon, impacted CHANCE team's ability to provide life-saving treatments to children with cancer as well as the logistical and psychological support provided to their families. There is an urgent need for funds and medications. These young heroes are in a race against their disease. Cancer doesn’t take a break!
