About This Cause
Children of The Nations (COTN) is a child (Orphans and destitute) care and support organization, whose vision is; “Raising Children Who Transform Nations”. Children of the Nations Malawi is committed to holistic care and support of children in four main thematic areas which are; Physical health, Education, Social welfare and Spiritual care in the three main programs explained below; 1. Children’s Homes Program Children’s Homes provide full-time family-style care that provide a stable and a nurturing environment o Provision well balanced nutrition and physical needs of children o Education support from pre-school to colleges and university o Emotional health support- planned counselling sessions and Childrens camps o Social activities like weekly sports activities and traditional dances 2. Village Partnership Program (VPP) COTN works in three villages in Lilongwe Malawi through the Village Partnership Program (VPP) which is a “hand-up” program designed to specifically meet the needs of orphaned and destitute children through partnerships and empowerment of the local people. Program activities include; o Early Childhood Development activities mostly preschools in all VPP centers o Primary to secondary school support of children with essential services and through COTN International Christian Academy, COTN Big Johns Primary school, Provision of tuition and school materials to primary and secondary school going children etc o Nutrition support through School feeding programs and temporary feeding activities in the VPP centers and well child medical checkups of children o Girls Power Clubs and Boys Hive empowerment groupings and women empowerment o WASH activities through Childrens Community Health Clubs (CCHC) 3. University/Vocational Program (UNVP) This is mostly a scholarship opportunity offered to a child that has finished the Malawi School Certificate of Education which is Form Four to reach their highest potential. Skills program o University and college scholarship- tuitions fees, accommodation support etc. o University students’ camps and mentorship program o Business Connections- business trainings and small-scale businesses o Business Technical Institute- entrepreneurship school COTN has existed for over the 25 years and over the years impacted 100s of children that are spread across Malawi in different professions and businesses which includes teachers, doctors and nurses etc
