Mission Statement

To create loving and caring neighbourhoods by helping underprivileged Malaysians through food aid, education bursaries, training and development programmes.

About This Cause

MyKasih Foundation was established in 2009 by Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat and his wife Puan Sri Jean Ngau to help the poor through food aid and education. Since the Foundation’s establishment in 2009, we have reached out to more than 280,000 low-income households nationwide and channelled RM 260 million worth of assistance. The beneficiaries also include 20,000 primary and secondary school students. There are two flagship CSR programmes that MyKasih Foundation runs:- · The MyKasih ‘Love My Neighbourhood’ food aid programme, and · The MyKasih ‘Love My School’ student bursary programme. The uniqueness of the MyKasih program is in the technology that drives its welfare distribution. The MyKasih ‘Love My Neighbourhood’ food aid program and the MyKasih ‘Love My School’ student bursary scheme run on an efficient cashless distribution system developed by DIV Services Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Dialog Group Berhad, which uses the proprietary chip technology of the Malaysian identity card, the MyKad, and proprietary MyKasih smartcard to disburse welfare aid to target beneficiaries (i.e. poor households earning a combined household income of RM 1,500/month and below). Under the food aid programme, registered recipients use their MyKad to draw upon a monthly allowance of RM80, which is contributed by Donors, to purchase essential food items from 10 different product categories, like rice, cooking oil, canned foods, biscuits, bread, noodles, seasonings, eggs, beverages and flour at partner retail outlets. Likewise, student beneficiaries under the MyKasih ‘Love My School’ student bursary programme use their MyKad-linked student smartcard to buy food & drinks at the school canteen, as well as books and stationary items at the school bookstore. In essence, the overall aim of the MyKasih programmes is to help alleviate the burden that underprivileged families have in putting food on the table and keeping their children in school. MyKasih also carries out health screening workshops, financial literacy and skills training courses, tuition classes, as well as income-generating initiatives with the objective of helping beneficiaries achieve financial independence by providing them with opportunities to improve their economic productivity and quality of life. MyKasih relies entirely on donations from the public and corporate bodies, which are tax-exempted, to help fund the above welfare programs for the underprivileged.
