About This Cause
The incidence of Autism in Mexico is 1 in 115 children born, and only 5% of this population receives any type of care from a government institution. In this context, Domus Instituto de Autismo was born as a non-profit organization, legally registered in Mexico, to respond to the needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at all stages of their lives. Domus supports the autism community through direct intervention, personalized, and comprehensive; family training; training of professionals specializing in autism; and the creation of outreach materials. These efforts promote inclusion in Mexico, improving the quality of life for individuals with ASD and their families. Domus is the only institution in Mexico that offers a personalized and comprehensive care to individuals with autism and their families. Through the DOMUS MODEL, it provides a therapeutic intervention that is complete and tailored to the specific needs of each person. Furthermore, it keeps up to date with the latest research and advances in the field of autism. THE DOMUS MODEL Our unique approach to ASD, which is the result of years of experience and consistent cutting-edge work, has been constantly growing and evolving. The DOMUS Model is a Comprehensive System of Diagnosis, Intervention and Treatment, based on scientific evidence used as premises under which we address the core deficit and the overall health of people with ASD, as well as the active participation of their parents, and thus having a favorable impact on their quality of life. The model is compounding of five components: 1. Communication and Social Interaction. 2. Thought Style and Restricted Behaviors. 3. Skills and Abilities. 4. Comprehensive Health. 5. Family. SERVICES After four decades, the Domus Institute has been known for its innovative and cutting-edge methodology. Domus currently offers the following services: • Evaluation and Diagnosis: consist of a detection of essential behavioral characteristics, through specialized observation procedures. • Early Intervention: this service offers comprehensive care to children from ages 1 to 6. • Comprehensive therapies: they include learning therapies; communication and language therapies; skill development therapies; sensory and psychomotor therapies; feeding therapies and nutritional counseling. • Emotional therapy: youths and children learning emotional regulation strategies to face the demands of their social environments. • Educational Inclusion: the objective is to incorporate children and young people with ASD into the School Education System. • Youngs and Adults: this service prepares people with ASD to achieve an optimal development in their adult life; it covers health care, development of social and communicative skills, daily life skills, community life, independent living, leisure and free time and work skills.
