Mission Statement

For the previous 25 years, UNETE has been transforming education in Mexico, bringing technology and an educational model to primary and secondary public schools in order to develop digital competencies for teachers, and 21st century skills and improved academic outcomes for students. Our mission is to improve the quality and equitable access of education in Mexico. Our vision is to build a more equitable Mexico by driving a movement to provide equal access to educational technology, strengthening public education.

About This Cause

UNETE's mission is to improve the quality and equitable access of quality education in public schools in Mexico. THE PROBLEM: 1. 55% of public schools in Mexico do not have access to computers for educational purposes (Mexicanos Primero 2024). 2. 72.5% of public schools in Mexico do not have Internet connectivity for educational purposes (Mexicanos Primero 2024). 3. In Mexico, 6.4 million children and young people, who represent 18% of the population of youth (ages 3-18), do not attend school (IMCO 2024). OUR SOLUTION: UNETE's main program is the UNETE Integral Model, which impacts school communities by introducing technology into the teaching-learning processes. To do this we start by setting up media classrooms, equipped with computers (PCs, laptops, or tablets) and Internet connection. Next, teachers and principals receive access to our online platform (Comunidad UNETE), connecting them to a support network, lesson plans, online instruction, and other teachers. Teachers also receive teacher training and mentoring for ten months. WHY OUR SOLUTION? Many teachers in Mexico have outdated teacher training and many of current teacher's training has not included training for the use of technology for educational purposes. The combination of technology and teacher training produces empowered teachers, equipped with the material technology and the digital skills needed to be agents of positive change for multiple generations of students. WHAT HAS BEEN THE IMPACT? In 25 years, we have benefited over 9,733 schools, changing the lives of over 2.8 million students in Mexico and more than 118,670 teachers and educators. WHERE DO WE WORK? UNETE has worked in all 32 states in Mexico, including but not limited to: 1. Urban schools 2. Rural schools 3. Indigenous schools 4. Undeserved communities in Mexico AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS: 1. We are a public charity (donataria autorizada) in Mexico, actively registered with the Tax Administration Service (Servicio de Administación Trubutaria) agency in Mexico. 2.
