About This Cause
This project aims to empower adolescent girls in Dilasaini rural municipality by providing menstrual health education, enhancing access to hygiene resources, and combating stigma. It includes training on sanitary pad kits, installing dispensers in schools and communities, conducting awareness campaigns, and addressing harmful traditions. With 50% of the funding support from the rural municipality's government, the project aims to improve girls' school attendance by addressing social barriers. Challenge Inadequate access to menstrual health resources and education, along with prevalent menstruation stigma, hinders the well-being, dignity, and educational opportunities of adolescent girls. This project aims to address these issues by improving access to menstrual hygiene products, promoting awareness, and combating societal stigma ultimately empowering girls and enhancing their overall health, education, and rights. Solution This project aims to solve the problem by improving access to menstrual hygiene products and education for young girls in rural Nepal. By making training and installing sanitary pad dispensers in schools and community centers and providing education on menstrual health and hygiene the project hopes to improve the sexual and reproductive rights of young girls. Additionally by working to combat stigma like the Chaupadi tradition we aim to reduce school dropouts among girls and secure their rights. Long-Term Impact This initiative will create a lasting impact in the community by fostering a positive change in menstrual health norms. Improving access, to education and combating stigma, will empower generations of girls, leading to increased school retention rates, enhanced overall health, and improved sexual and reproductive rights. This sustainable transformation will promote gender equity, break harmful traditions, and be a more inclusive community for years to come.
