About This Cause
TERRA Foundation, a unique non-profit organization based in The Hague, was founded in 2021 with a distinct approach to driving environmental and social impact through community-led action. Our mission, which you are an integral part of, is to combat climate change and strengthen biodiversity by identifying trustworthy, high-impact projects and connecting them with financial support. Together, we work to ensure these initiatives have the resources they need for long-term, sustainable development. TERRA's work is grounded in four core impact pillars: 1. Reforestation and Sustainable Land Management 2. Biodiversity Conservation 3. Preservation and Advancement of Community Ecological Knowledge 4. Community Empowerment and Capacity Development At TERRA Foundation, we are committed to supporting Indigenous Peoples and local communities, safeguarding over 80% of the world's remaining biodiversity and storing more than 25% of tropical forest carbon on their lands. TERRA seeks to partner with grassroots projects that are locally founded and led—initiatives committed to restoring, protecting, and maintaining healthy forest ecosystems. By amplifying community-led solutions, TERRA, with generous donor support, helps strengthen the capacity of Indigenous and local groups to manage their natural resources, develop resilient economies, and drive lasting environmental change.
