Mission Statement

The Black Jaguar Foundation pursues one clear objective: planting native trees on a massive scale to help realize the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in Brazil, in order to improve the lives of each of us and of all future generations on our planet.

About This Cause

Become part of one of the largest reforestation projects on earth! The Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in Central Brazil will become the longest of all nature corridors on earth and one of South America’s largest reforestation projects. Its scope is astonishing, with a total length of 2,600 kilometres and a width of up to 40 kilometres situated alongside the riverbanks of the entire Araguaia river. The Corridor connects two of the world’s most vital ecosystems: the Amazon rainforest and the Cerrado savanna. The project is extremely ambitious. The Corridor covers an area of 10.4 million hectares, from which around 1 million will be restored and over 1.7 billion native trees planted. Together with local landowners and our local team, we identify the degraded pieces of land that need to be restored in accordance with the Brazilian Forest Code and bring back the original ecosystems.
