Mission Statement
We at Conductive Education Wellington Trust believe in a holistic approach to supporting children with motor disorders to reach their full potential through a collaborative approach with whanau and professionals. We believe that Whanau are an important part of our programme and we want to involve them in their child’s learning so that they can be empowered to support their children and learn more about their needs. We have an open door policy and value Whanau to be active participants when possible and will share information regularly. Respectful relationships between whanau and staff will support the children’s learning and development. Children’s culture will be recognised and implemented into the daily activities at Conductive. We will deliver the core philosophy and principles of Conductive Education while ensuring we meet Ministry Of Health and Ministry Of Education requirements by weaving the principles and strands of Te Whariki into our daily programme. Staff will work collaboratively together and with outside agencies for the best interests of the child. Children will have individual profiles that focus on their goals and interests that promote their sense of well-being and belonging.
About This Cause
Conductive Education Wellington centre provides programmes for children who have partial or global developmental delay (dysfunction) aged six months to six years. Conductive Education is form of rehabilitation for children with motor disorders whose disability is caused by damage to the central nervous system – its most common application is to children with motor disorders such as Cerebral Palsy and Spina bifida. Conductive Education offers a complex programme, which covers most aspects of a child’s development: physical, educational, social, emotional, communication and language. Offering a positive lifestyle for children with motor disorders, their families and support people. Conductive Education Wellington Trust was established in Wellington in 1991, is a registered charitable Trust and a licensed early childhood centre. We provide services to children in the greater Wellington region. We offer: • Free Conductive Education Assessments • Conductive Education group programmes • Individual Conductive Education Plans • Coordinated services to meet a childs total needs • Support and education for families/whanau and early childhood centre’s • A friendly welcoming environment. • Follow on support once a child is of school age – we manage a school-aged unit in Naenae Primary School providing ongoing programmes for children with moderate, high and very high needs. We also provide after school programmes to children attending their local school.
