Mission Statement
Ready Set Work initiative (RSWI) is a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering young people with the skills, resources, and training they need to succeed in the work place. This includes; job training, mentorship, and other support services to help young people develop the skills, experience, and confidence they need to secure employment and advance in their careers, thereby building a better future for themselves and their communities. The initiative also focuses on providing young people with access to educational and vocational programs that can help them develop the skills needed for specific industries or fields. We believe that every young person has the potential to succeed and should have access to the tools and support they need to reach their full potential, and we are dedicated to helping them do just that. Our initiative envisages a global landscape in which each emerging young adult and recent graduate is comprehensively equipped and self-assured. This paradigm shift aims to mitigate unemployment rates while simultaneously establishing a reservoir of proficient, versatile, and adept individuals, poised to make immediate and substantial impact. Overall, the RSWI is a valuable resource for young people looking to succeed in their careers. The initiative's programs and resources provide young people with the tools and support they need to succeed, and its dedication to helping young people reach their full potential is evident in its mission and the impact it has on the community. MISSION: Ready Set Work Initiative's mission is to empower youth to reach their full potential by providing them with the skills, tools, resources, and support, they need to succeed in their career. To bridge the gap between education and employment, by providing a pathway for young people with the support and guidance they need to succeed in their jobs and contribute to the development of their communities. VISION: The vision of the RSWI is to create a future where young people in Nigeria are empowered to succeed in their careers and have the opportunity, experiences, skills and resources they need to achieve their goals, succeed in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the Ready Set Work initiative include: To empower and prepare young people for successful careers by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and opportunities to thrive in the workforce and entrepreneurship. 1. Facilitate Access to Education and Training: We aim to provide young people with access to quality education and training programs that equip them with the skills and knowledge needed for their desired careers. By partnering with educational institutions and industry experts, we ensure that our participants receive relevant and up-to-date instruction. 2. Foster Mentorship and Networking: We recognize the importance of mentorship and networking in career development. Our initiative connects young individuals with experienced professionals who can guide and support them throughout their journey. Additionally, we offer networking opportunities to help them build connections within their chosen industries. 3. Facilitate Job Placement and Career Advancement: Our goal is to bridge the gap between young people and organizations by connecting them with job opportunities and entrepreneurial resources that align with their skills and aspirations. We provide job placement services that match individuals with suitable employment options. Furthermore, we support their career advancement by offering continuous learning opportunities, professional development resources, and pathways for growth within their chosen fields.
About This Cause
AREAS OF CORE COMPETENCE: Ready Set Work Initiative offers a variety of programs and services to help young people prepare for their careers. These include; JOB READINESS TRAINING: RSWI provides training in essential skills such as resume/cv writing, interview coaching, LinkedIn optimization, and cover letter editing to help young people prepare for job interviews and secure employment. This training will be specifically designed to help and equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and behaviors that are needed to get the job. They will also be trained on skills needed to succeed in the workplace, such as Communication Skills, Teamwork, Time management, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, etc. that will enable them to be successful in their chosen careers. EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS: RSWI offers a variety of education and training programs, including vocational training, business management, and leadership development. These programs are designed to equip youth with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their career. These programs can take many different approaches, including traditional classroom training, online training, internships, and on-the-job training. Job Placement, internships, and Entrepreneurial Support: RSWI works with employers and entrepreneurs to provide youth with job opportunities and access to resources that can help them start their own businesses and become successful entrepreneurs. Our Entrepreneurial support programs provide individuals with the resources and guidance they need to start and grow their own businesses, business plan development, access to funding, and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs. Also providing training and webinars on topics such as marketing, finance, and legal issues related to starting a business. RSWI partners with local businesses and organizations to provide young people with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields. we aid with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. We also help to connect job seekers with employers that have openings that match their skills and qualifications and give them the opportunities to access job fairs, and career resources. etc. MENTORSHIP AND NETWORKING: RSWI provides youth with access to a network of successful professionals who can serve as mentors and provide guidance and support to them as they navigate through their careers. These Mentors will share their various experiences, offer advice on navigating the challenges of their different fields or industries, and help mentees develop their skills and knowledge. They will also be able to network with like-minded individuals, thereby building meaningful connections and professional relationships, making them gain insights into different industries, and gain access to valuable resources and information. We understand the impact of positive mentorship and networking, and how they can play a crucial role in an individual's professional development and career advancement. YOUTH-LED PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES: RSWI encourages youth to take the lead in developing and implementing projects and initiatives that address the issues they care about in their communities, as it will help them develop leadership skills, gain experience in project management, and become positive change-makers in their communities. These projects and programs will be initiated, planned, and implemented by young people, and can be focused on a variety of issues, such as education, community development, environmental protection, and social justice, thereby engaging young people in their various communities and empowering them to take an active role in addressing the issues that matters to them. We will provide the necessary support and resources for these youths to carry out their projects. CAREER GUIDANCE & COUNSELING: RSWI provides one-on-one guidance & counseling to help young people explore their options and make informed career decisions. We have trained professionals and experts who can help them to explore their interests, values, skills, and abilities to make informed decisions about their careers, as they will understand their strengths and weaknesses, identify their career goals, and develop a plan to achieve them. POPULATION TARGET: RSWI serves young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are currently unemployed, underemployed, or looking to enter or improve their careers. Priority would be given to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and marginalized communities. Also, young people who are facing barriers to employment, such as lack of education or experience, we aim to provide them with the skills and resources they need to succeed.
