Mission Statement
To facilitate opportunities for youth leadership development, social mobilization, and cross-cultural dialogue using creative arts as a tool.
About This Cause
Street Project Foundation was conceived as an intervention for myriads of youths living under the poverty line. Youth restlessness, lack of direction, access to capital, and opportunities limit their development and empowerment, hence the need to harness their talents. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty in the continent of Africa, starting with Nigeria. We help young individuals reach their full potential through our creative programs such as Digital Amazons, Creative Youth Boot Camp, ARTvocacy, Street University, Do What You Love Festival, and Alaafia project. Through our programs, our youths experience increased incomes, scholarship opportunities, and access to grants and fellowships, and many of them have become global citizens, using their creative talents for social good worldwide. In the last fifteen years, our program has impacted the lives of over ten thousand youths and their families directly and indirectly. In the last five years alone, we organized programs that directly impacted the lives of over five hundred youths and, by extension, impacted the lives of over three thousand youths and their families. At Street Project Foundation, we believe the world would become a better place if people made a sustainable living doing what they love. As such, our vision is to raise one million transformational youth leaders in Africa who make a sustainable living doing what they love by 2030. Why we do what we do To inspire African youths to become culture creators and social change agents to co-create a new world of inclusivity, pluralism, and social cohesion. These are our core values at Street Project Foundation. Creativity To us, creativity is intelligence having fun. Fun is the recipe and playful freedom required for ‘boxless thinking.’ We threw the box away a long time ago. Who needs to think outside the box when we can do without it completely and create something no one has ever seen before? Excellence “Excuses are the tools of the incompetent, a monument of nothingness; those who use them are not wise.” At SPF, there’s no excuse for mediocrity. We strive to be exceptional in all we do. Inclusion We leave no one behind. We strive to ensure that the most vulnerable youths in our society are included in our programming. They include Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs), persons living with neurological disorders, persons struggling with mental health challenges, and youths from marginalized and impoverished communities. Constantly Evolving The world is constantly changing, and as an organization, we are structured as a dynamic entity with the capacity to adapt to prevailing changes of the 21st century. Collaboration Most of our most significant organizational accomplishments have happened due to our partnerships with employers, allies in the creative industry, and association with thought leaders. Collaboration must be balanced as a necessity for the future of SPF. Trustworthy We keep our word. We walk our talk. We say it as it is. Governance: We have six full-time staff members who run our day-to-day operations. We have a board of directors comprising seven seasoned professionals across sectors, including persons with disabilities. We also have a youth advisory board that ensures the foundation is connected to the current needs of the youths.
