Mission Statement
Our mission is “to create an environment where women and youths have easy access to the information and resources required for personal development and success. This is actualized by a wide range of programs that encourage Nigerian youth to develop themselves and contribute to the development of their immediate communities and Nigeria as a whole. The Ovie Brume Foundation was conceived to provide a tangible means of developing young people intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. The Ovie Brume Foundation (OBF) was founded in 2003 and envisions a society where young people are educated, empowered and self-reliant”. The Foundation delivers high quality programmes for young people in Education, Health, Livelihood, Child Protection and Sports for Development. OBF has reached over 3 million young people through her programmes with her team of dedicated and passionate staff in the Lagos and Warri offices. The Foundation focuses on children from the public sector, many of whom are disadvantaged as a consequence of limited exposure, motivation, and opportunities. The Foundation has expertise in building the leadership capacities and life skills of our beneficiaries and conceptualizing, designing, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of livelihood and educational interventions. Our mission is actualized by a wide range of programs that encourage Nigerian youth to develop themselves and contribute to the development of their immediate communities and Nigeria as a whole. With our strong focus on child protection and wellness interventions, we program holistically for child and youth development. We ensure that young Nigerians reach higher levels of achievement through the provision of high quality education services including literacy and numeracy enhancement interventions, and computer literacy to give them the skills they need to compete in today’s environment. Furthermore, Ovie Brume Foundation runs Livelihood programs with an overall aim of contributing to the economic viability of young people. The Livelihood programs include; Sports for Development with special reference to Swimming, Taekwondo and most recently Football, which instills discipline and time management skills in the beneficiaries. About This Cause
Benevity Proposal INTRODUCTION Economic livelihoods of many disadvantaged families, who are daily wage earners in Lagos have been halted and negatively altered due to the lock-down as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. This project will therefore support such families, who are members of the OBF Youth Centres in Victoria Island, Lagos and Warri, Delta state; the project will provide them relief materials such as staple foods, beverage, and hygiene packs. PROBLEM STATEMENT With the steady increase in confirmed cases in Lagos state, the lock-down directive issued by the government may be extended inorder to ensure that lives are prioritized and the spread of the virus is curtailed. This would further increase the hardship witnessed so far by many economically disadvantaged families and other citizens who are continually deepening into poverty due to their inability to engage in any economic activities thereby resulting in their inability to provide for their family. RATIONALE The fund will cushion the effect of joblessness and starvation already experienced by many families in Eti-Osa LGA, and will provide food and hygiene packs to 120 families whose children are members/beneficiaries of the Ovie Brume Foundation's Youth Center. The fund will also provide sanitary pads to 250 girls who are also members/beneficiaries of the Ovie Brume Foundation as well as educate them on good hygiene to boost their reproductive health. PROJECT GOAL The goal of Ovie Brume Foundation’s COVID-19 Palliative Support is to ease the asperity associated with the total lockdown among economically disadvantaged families who are faced with realities of the economic depression witnessed across the world. The fund will be used to provide the following: 1. Food relief materials and hygiene packs for 120 families within carefully identified economically disadvantaged communities in Eti-Osa LGA, whose children are members/beneficiaries of the Ovie Brume Foundation’s Youth Center. 2. Sanitary pads for 250 girls within the identified communities in Eti-Osa LGA, who are members/beneficiaries of the Foundation’s Youth Center. POTENTIAL LONG-TERM IMPACT The project will support 120 economically disadvantaged families by reducing hunger and improving their well-being as well as improve the reproductive health of 250 girls within economically disadvantaged families.
