Mission Statement
"Fundacja z Pompą – Pomóż Dzieciom z Białaczką” ( transl: “The Pump up Foundation – Help Children with Leukemia” ) support The Clinic of Peadiatrics, Hematology and Oncology of the Gdansk University Clinical Center, its small patients and their families. The Foundation was created by the parents who stood by their children during their fight against cancer. Both, children as well as their close ones, often spend several months in the Clinic, therefore the hospital becomes their second home. That is why it is so important to create proper conditions for the little patients – this concerns not only modern medical equipment, but also friendly conditions which have a huge impact on the comfort of treatment.
About This Cause
Our Foundation buys medical equipment necessary for the therapy: infusion pumps, cardio monitors, single-use items for central catheters, antiseptics. We offer psychological help for children with cancer as well as their families through therapy, supporting groups and an information web page. We also organize therapeutic workshops for small patients. The Clinic treats children with cancer and blood cancer from all over the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Our foundation was registered in the National Court on 19th of July 2013. The registration process ended on September 16th, setting up an account at “Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej”. Till now, we have provided the Clinic infusion pumps, medical racks, specialized hospital beds, fold-out armchairs for carers, trolley for patients transport, blood sampling chair, rehabilitation stool, fingertype pulse oximeters, venflons, pressure gauges, along with the cuffs for the youngest children, non-contact thermometers, a few bedding sets and few blankets. The value of the equipment we passed is almost 1.000.000 PLN. Nowadays the coronavirus pandemic forced a change in our plans. We are currently collecting funds for the purchase of personal protective equipment for medical staff and patients.
