About This Cause
Lumya Campus is being built in Bolintin-Vale city, Giurgiu County, on an area of 10,000 square meters. The land was obtained in March 2023, through a partnership agreement with the Giurgiu County Council, the contract period being 49 years, without owing rent during the contract period. In the past, there was a maternity hospital on that land, that has been inactive for more than 10 years. In a very short period of time we prepared the architectural project for the entire Campus, we obtained all the approvals and authorizations necessary for the construction (Urban Planning Certificate, Electricity Supply Approval (ENEL), Natural Gas Supply Approval, Sanitation Approval, Fire Safety Approval (ISU Giurgiu), Public Health Notice (DSP Giurgiu), OMV Notice, Giurgiu Environmental Protection Agency, Technical Expertise, Geotechnical Study, Construction Authorization). The actual construction started at the end of March 2024. From then until now we have managed to achieve the following things: the roads and internal alleys have been laid out, we have completed the foundations (2700 sq m), the reinforcement has been installed on the entire surface and the concrete has been poured on more than half of the total area. Sewerage systems are more than 80% complete and work is underway to renovate the existing building which will function as a medical clinic. During all this time we have carried out a sustained campaign to increase the degree of understanding and awareness of the cause we support and to attract funds, including by organizing events. In the next period we will continue the construction, we will complete and arrange all the components of the Lumya Campus and the related area. Simultaneously with the development of the Campus, we will continue our efforts to raise awareness of autism and the needs of adolescents and adults with autism, with the objective of supporting, integrating and including them. In the next period, we will start the process of recruitment and subsequent staff training. The main activities in the next period related to the construction of the Lumya Campus are the ones in the table below, starting from the First Quarter of 2024, until the First Quarter of 2025 After inauguration of the Lumya Campus, the following services will be provided: Personalized Therapeutic Services Through the multiple types of therapies provided, we offer individually tailored therapeutic programs, recognizing the diversity and specificity of the needs of each beneficiary. We encourage self-expression, exploration of uniqueness and stimulation of personal potential. Skills Development Through personalized workshops, we aim to facilitate the development of social skills, effective communication and independence. We want to provide a safe and supportive environment for exploring and maximizing each individual's potential. Residential Services with Specialized Assistance We understand the need for respiro programs for their families and the need for continuous and tailored assistance. Lumya Campus provides a safe environment, encouraging independence and providing specialized support for daily needs. Critical Medical Services The specific medical needs of people with autism, especially those with associated medical conditions, are a priority. We will work with specialized professionals to provide appropriate and personalized medical services. Community Awareness and Inclusion Programs Running educational and community awareness programs to increase understanding and inclusion of people with autism, building solid knowledge around this topic. Sustainability and Financial Development Implementation of sustainability principles in the construction and operational phases, contributing to a positive impact on the environment. The urgent need to provide support to adolescents and adults with autism and their families lacking any support or alternative today. There are currently tens of thousands of people with autism in Romania, most of whom are already adults now, and the rate of growth is accelerating year over year. They face major difficulties in accessing adequate services, live in harsh isolation, without prospects, with an extremely low quality of life for the entire family. People with autism need a lot of support throughout their lives to develop their skills and gain self-confidence, ongoing assessment and monitoring, treatment, specific therapies and appropriate care. As the children become teenagers and adults, at least one of the family members, often the only one, can no longer have a job and the quality of life of the whole family deteriorates considerably. That is why victims today are not only them, but also their entire families. On the other hand, many of the people with autism have potential that can be harnessed for their own good and that of the community, but this can only be achieved by providing them with the necessary framework and environment to identify and explore their potential and develop their skills. Lumya Campus will address all these critical needs through an integrated approach towards them. It focuses on three main pillars: education, health and environment. The Lumya Campus is designed to offer therapy and skill development workshops, residential services with specialized support and differentiates by the implementation of sustainability principles in every aspect of construction and operation. Education: Lumya Campus is designed to provide an inclusive and personalized educational environment for adults and adolescents with autism. We will develop specialized workshops and educational programs to meet the individual needs of our beneficiaries, while promoting inclusion and independence. Health, specialized care: The medical services provided will be tailored to the specific needs of the autistic population, ensuring they receive usuality medical care. Respiro programs for families of beneficiaries with specialized care. Environment: The Lumya Campus is designed and built with a strong focus on sustainability. By accessing green technologies, we will manage resources efficiently and promote green practices in every aspect of our operation, thereby helping to protect the environment and facilitate long-term sustainability. People who will benefit from educational and therapeutic programs and the acquisition of skills within the multifunctional center during the day - Resident beneficiaries - The families of resident and non-resident beneficiaries - The State Budget, the community and society as a whole The estimated total number of beneficiaries who can access either the services offered during the day or the respiro programs is approximately 1000 direct beneficiaries annually. The indirect beneficiaries, however, are equally every member of their families, that is why the impact of the project is much greater, of 3000- 4000 direct and indirect beneficiaries annually. This estimate is calculated taking into account the daily capacity of 250 places for activities within the multi-purpose center during the day, for therapies and skills development workshops, the number of medical consultations (approximately 100) and the capacity for respiro/residential services with specialist support (42 total seats) and in addition to these, the frequency and average duration of access to each service
