Mission Statement

Infoarena is a Romanian non‐profit organization helping middle school, high school and college students learn Computer Science and improve their programming skills.

About This Cause

Infoarena was founded in 2003 by four high school students who wanted to provide all their Romanian fellows with a modern training tool for programming competitions. The project was unique in Romania: up until then, the main sources of training consisted of foreign universities' web sites. In time we've grown into a 15.000+ members community ‐ mostly Romanians, but not only: we've been happy to support students from other countries (they trained on our website using translation tools). Nowadays infoarena is the main training source for the best young programmers in our country. == Main activities == Infoarena's main activities include organizing programming contests, publishing articles and educational materials. So far we have hosted more than 60 programming competitions, 5 of which had an onsite final. We offer our users one of the largest problem archives of this kind, consisting of more than 1000 problems. A user can submit a solution to any of the problems 24/7 and our live evaluator will return the score results instantly. In case one stumbles upon a difficult problem or has any sort of questions, our community is always ready to provide help on the forum. And for those who are interested in software development, infoarena offers the opportunity to contribute and learn, as we are an open source project. == Team == Our project's team members work on a complete unpaid voluntary basis. All of the current members are college students or young software engineers: over time, some of the winners of our programming contests joined the team to give back to the community what they had learned. You can find us all at http://www.infoarena.ro/echipa-infoarena == Financing == Like any other projects, ours need financial support too. Sponsors have been our main resource so far. We proudly count Google, Facebook, Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft and many other Romanian companies among the ones who believed in our work and encouraged it. The other main source of income has been the community's direct contribution: parents, teachers and employed users have donated 2% of their annual income tax to infoarena through a Romanian governmental program.
