Mission Statement
Provide financial support to children and youth in need to pay for school related expenses
About This Cause
The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF) was started as a community project initiated by The Straits Times. It received its charity status in 2011 and has been an Institution of Public Character (IPC) since Jan 2012. It is governed by a Board of Trustees. STSPMF provides pocket money to children from low income families to help them through school. The children can use this money to buy a meal at school, pay for their transport fares, purchase school books or stationery or any other school related expenses. Since the project started in 2000, the Fund has disbursed more than $60m and helped over 160,000 cases of children and youth in providing them with monthly school pocket money.
