About This Cause

3. Basic skills or services of the Organisation: 3.1 Soup kitchen: This project started due to the leg of “Food Security ” in the area. We did a survey in our communities of how many families struggle with employment, the unemployed youth who sitting on street corners and have no social life and employment but have to beg for food, children come from school and no one is at home or no food at home while they have to do homework. People who is on treatment and cannot take medication on empty stomachs. So we started to feed the poor and vulnerable living with HIV/AIDS, TB, and the disable frail elderly, unemployed youth with at least 1 nutritious meal 5 day a week. We focus on our objecti ves to fight the plague of poverty and starvation and we grow from feeding 20 people to 170 people on a daily basis . 3.2 Food Parcels Distribution: We distribute food parcels to the following areas: Kwanokuthula ,New Horizons, Qolweni/Bossiesgif, Kransho ek, Plett.South, Harkerville, Wittedrift and Kurland. Some of these rural areas need the food support and we help unemployed families to sustain themselves by giving 500 food parcel on a monthly basis .The amount of beneficiaries that benefits from this pr oject amount to 3959 a month. We are also the only organisation in Plettenberg Bay area rendering this service. The main focus is to help people with food security in critical times. Beneficiaries who apply is pensioners, unemployed families, disable perso ns, the unemployed youth, people on treatment and who need to take medication to get better. 3.3.Play Therapy Play Therapy is often used as tool of diagnosis. A play therapist observes a client playing with toys (play-houses, pets, dolls, etc.) to determine the cause of the disturbed behavior. The objects and patterns of play, as well as the willingness to inter-act with the therapist can be used to understand the underlying reasons for behavior both inside and outside the session. Many mature adults find that "child's play" is so difficult and taboo, that most experi-enced group workers need specially tailored "play" strategies to reach them. Compe-tent adult-group workers will use these play strategies to enable more unguarded spon-taneity to develop in the non-childish student 3.4.Brief therapy Brief therapy is often highly strategic, exploratory, and solution-based rather than problem-oriented. It is less concerned with how a problem arose than with the current factors sustaining it and preventing change. Brief therapists do not adhere to one "correct" approach, but rather accept that there being many paths, any of which may or may not in combination turn out to be ultimately beneficial. 3.5.Group Therapy Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy during which one or sev-eral therapists treat a small group of clients together as a group. This may be more cost effective than individual therapy, and possibly even more productive. 3.6.Acceptance and Commitment Therapy The core conception of ACT is that psycho-logical suffering is usually caused by experiential avoidance, cognitive entanglement, and resulting psychological rigidity that leads to a failure to take needed behavioral steps in accord with core values. As a simple way to summarize the model, you can say that ACT views the core of many problems to be FEAR: 3.7.Telephone Counseling Telephone counseling is a type of psychological first aid where a person communicates the counselor. It may be conducted as a pre-treatment, concurrent-treatment, or after-treatment of other interactions. Telephone counseling can be more effective than most other forms of counselling. 3.7.Family therapyFamily therapy emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. As such, family problems have been seen to arise as an emer-gent property of systemic interactions, rather than to be blamed on individual members. Family therapists may focus more on how patterns of interaction maintain the problem rather than trying to identify the cause, as this can be experienced as blaming by some families. It assumes that the family as a whole is larger than the sum of its par 3.8 3.8 Satellites Food Distribution:Satellites Food Distribution: We distributed to 43 satellites food, the main objective is tWe distributed to 43 satellites food, the main objective is to o distribute the food to the most effected community members living with HIV/AIDS, TB, fraildistribute the food to the most effected community members living with HIV/AIDS, TB, frail elderly, elderly, unemployed youth and the disable to help fight poverty and starvation in rural areas.
