Mission Statement
The mission of LifeLine Western Cape is placing services that support mental well being, suicide prevention and free counselling to all those who seek it. The objects of the Association are the following: - To establish and maintain one or more Counselling Centres, operated by duly trained counsellors, in order to respond to and counsel and / or where necessary, to refer any caller in need of assistance to relevant organisations or services qualified and able to handle such needs. - To provide training and supervision to qualify persons to practise as LifeLine volunteer counsellors. - To provide education, training and support to develop emotional wellness within local communities.
About This Cause
LifeLine Western Cape is a Non-Profit organisation that provides free counselling via telephone counselling as well as face-to-face counselling within our community. LifeLine counsellors provide support to people in emotional need, whom we seek to empower through non-directive, empathetic counselling. LifeLine Western Cape trains all our volunteer counsellors. LifeLine counsellors need to attend and complete our Personal Growth Course as well as our Counselling Skills course. This ensures consistency amongst our counsellors so that our counselling remains true to our mission. We also provide corporate training. Our Corporate Training division specialises in creating tailor made courses and workshops to meet the needs of the client. We do not believe in the one-size-fits-all concept and each course is specifically designed in consultation with the client. Among the courses we create for businesses are: Team Building Communication & Counselling Skills Mediation and Conflict Resolution Trauma Counselling Management Skills Managing and Developing Team Overcoming Structural Hurdle Assertiveness Training Change & Diversity Conflict Resolution Discrimination & Prejudice Facilitation Skills Mediation & Negotiation Stress Management Scenario & Strategic Planning HIV/AIDS Information & Awareness Personal Development LifeLine Western Cape also provides HIV testing and counselling through our HAST programme. The primary objectives of the HAST programme are to: - Provide psychological support, care and counselling for people living with HIV and AIDS. - Empower and support people living with HIV and AIDS to live positive, healthy and productive lives. - Promote, encourage and support voluntary testing (VCT). - Promote and support compliance and adherence to anti-retroviral treatment and programmes; and - Reduce the chances of transmission of HIV from mother-to-child. LifeLine Western Cape has been around for 51 years and we plan to be around for another wonderful 50 years more. Your donations will enable us to keep doing what we have been doing as well as allowing us to grow in strength and reach.
