Mission Statement

The project of the Espai Xarxa Projecte Q Project Association consists of the opening of a new community space in the city of Barcelona, created by and for the LGTBIQ + community. A space that works as a complement to the current existing associative and institutional fabric. In this new space, which will be called "espaiQWERTY", the various lines of action of the association will be consolidated, accommodating all those individuals and groups within the community who'd be keen to participate. It will also be a center for planning, coordinating and developing projects to be carried out around different locations in the city, the nearest territory and internationally, as well as on QWERTY's premises. EspaiQWERTY wants to become part of the network Espais de Cultura Viva de Barcelona. The espaiQWERTY project responds to four main main points: -the revitalization of the LGTBIQ + community in all its diversity (with a strong emphasis on gender perspectives and generational interaction) -activism through political advocacy projects -the social approach to community health within the collective -the empowerment of the culture and performing arts of the group, operating as a meeting point for emerging and established LGTBIQ+ artists from Barcelona, who are willing to get involved in international networks This project is based on the premise of financial self-sustainability and, therefore, any profit motive is excluded. On the other hand, the espaiQWERTY will be a space free of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

About This Cause

Main goals: The aim is to open an LGTBIQ + community space in the city of Barcelona. From its inception, the Associació Espai Xarxa Projecte Q is clear that, for the execution of projects aligned with its strategic lines, it is essential to have its own premises, for the coordination of projects located in different parts of the territory and in organizations within the city of Barcelona. The disposal of its own space will also allow the execution of many other activities which today can't find a space -such as the cession of space for rehearsals of the association artist's portfolio- which provides the sensitivity and empathy needed to be performed, due to the differentiating characteristics of the LGTBIQ + community. On the other hand, many of the proposed activities require continuity and, therefore, an own space with an agenda and the ideal facilities could be key to carry them out. Today, thanks to the activities promoted by QWERTY's platform, a large community has been consolidated, as well as a team of promoters with occasional collaborations that cover the necessary and sufficient technical skills to make a space of this nature a reality: entrepreneurship. social, strategic alliances with third sector entities and public institutions, financial management, digital tools, unified with spaces and assemblies without a legal entity, dynamization of events, international contacts, communication... a large network that is working altruistically to make QWERTY's space a reality. Since its inception, the community of people who make up the association -between 60 and 120 members, depending on the moment- has been defining multiple possibilities for this new space. The following is a summary of the main axes that the QWERTY Space will serve, and which fit in with the strategic lines of the association: Community stimulation: · Space for cohesion projects between older people and LGTBIQ + youth groups which address issues such as loneliness, dependency or adaptation to new residential environments. · Availability of space for groups of elderly people to carry out their own activities. · Safe and free space, and with the availability of logistical technical support for the holding of assemblies and the meeting of LGTBIQ + groups, in order to facilitate and empower the social fabric of the city. A space where physical activities and health promotion can be practiced in a safe environment for the LGTBIQ + community: yoga, dance, twerk, vogue dance, self-defense, living with HIV, STD's prevention, drugs and sexuality ... The QWERTY Space wants to offer an environment not just for the fun meeting, but also to promote the physical arts and the health of the group. · Space for intersectional work, which facilitates meetings to discuss the discriminatory crossing of belonging to more than one minority or disadvantaged social group. · Adaptation to functional diversity (without architectural barriers and with Braille indication). Social transformation: · Disposal of space for groups and assemblies in the LGTBIQ + community, so that they can coordinate and develop their own projects and campaigns. · Construction of discussion spaces with different guests to share ideas that encourage social debate, generate new impressions and raise awareness among LGTBIQ + people on current political and social issues. · Assignment of space for the preparation of entities wishing to participate in the political debate from spaces such as the Comissió Unitària 28J, the Consell Municipal or the Consell Nacional sobre Feminismes i LGTBIQ + and other areas of advocacy. · Space for active participation in rights consolidation campaigns acquired by the LGTBIQ + community. Social approach to LGTBIQ+ community health · Space for promoting public health campaigns aimed at the LGTBIQ + community, and for coordination with promoters. · Space for the coordination of activists, groups and organizations in campaigns in defense of public health. · Space for volunteer coordination in campaigns related to LGTBIQ + community's health issues. · Space for the distribution of risk reduction material related to STDs. · Space to organize the community approach to the reality of ChemSex. · Space to promote the dynamics of detoxification for people with problematic consumption in relation to ChemSex. Culture, performing arts and leisure for the LGTBIQ + community · Adaptation of the space in order to be part of the network Espais de Cultura Viva. · Organization and coordination of LGTBIQ + groups and entities for their involvement in neighborhood and city events and parties. · Musical events to promote the emerging and established LGTBIQ + scene in Catalonia, creating a showcase for them where to promote their art, both for live music and dj´s. The QWERTY Space also aims to help consolidate Barcelona as a city of national and international model for culture. · Meeting point for LGTBIQ + groups and entities which do not have spaces adapted for their cultural creation and innovation projects.
