Mission Statement
Pink Cross is the Swiss gay federation. We advocate for the rights of gay, bi, queer men, and all LGBTIQ+ individuals in Switzerland. Our mission is to fight for societal and juridical equality, aiming to put an end to all forms of discrimination against LGBTIQ+ people.
About This Cause
Why support Pink Cross? Isn't everything okay in Switzerland? Despite recent improvements, such as marriage equality and simplified gender recognition, Switzerland ranks only 17th among all European countries in the Rainbow-Europe ranking. There is still much work to be done: * Discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace is still not illegal. * LGBT youth face higher rates of harassment and suicide attempts compared to their heterosexual peers (4x more for young LGB individuals and 10x more for young trans and gender-questioning individuals). * Conversion practices, attempting to "treat homosexuality," are not banned and remain legal in Switzerland. * Hate crimes reported reached a new high point in 2023, with almost 6 cases per week, and many more incidents likely going undocumented. What does Pink Cross do? Pink Cross actively engages in various struggles for queer men and LGBTIQ+ people on different levels: * We advocate for more LGBTIQ+-friendly legislation and policies at both national and regional levels. * Our LGBTIQ-Helpline provides support and advice for LGBTIQ+ individuals. * Through thematic events and campaigns, we aim to educate and raise awareness among both our community and the general public. * We conduct research, document the current realities and struggles of gay, bi, and queer men, and support academics working on these issues, ensuring this knowledge reaches policymakers. How to support us? Pink Cross does not receive any public support for our work. We primarily rely on funding from our members and donors, while certain projects are supported by foundations. If you wish to support our cause, any donation will contribute to creating a more equal and inclusive Switzerland. Would you like to actively engage in our work?
