Mission Statement
At Village Vision Care (VVC), our mission is to restore dignity, hope, and opportunity to Uganda’s most disadvantaged communities by mending broken hearts through love-driven service and sustainable development. We empower lives by facing deep-rooted challenges using a holistic approach that focuses on: 1. Health and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Promoting wellness, disease prevention, and access to clean water and decent sanitation. 2. Child Support and Education Equipping vulnerable children including those with disabilities with the support, tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. 3. Livelihood Empowerment Uplifting households with practical, income-generating support and pathways out of poverty. 4. Skills Development Training youth, young and single mothers, and other vulnerable individuals in employable trades for lasting self-reliance and dignity. 5. Environmental Conservation Engaging communities in climate-smart solutions to protect our God-given environment and secure a sustainable future. We believe every person, regardless of background, deserves to be seen, supported, and given the chance to thrive. Through faith, action, and partnership, we walk with those often forgotten, building stronger, more hopeful communities, one life at a time.
About This Cause
I write this not just as the founder and dream bearer of a nonprofit organization, but as someone who has lived through the same pain and poverty we now work hard to heal in forgotten and struggling households. My name is Ronnie Remmy Mukwaya, and I grew up in a large, struggling polygamous family of 21 children under two households. Each day was a true battle for survival. We lacked food, school fees, clothing, medicine, shelter, and even basic bedding. My parents only studied up to Primary Seven. They tried their best, surviving on small-scale farming and raising a few chickens and goats. Even getting five dollars a day was not easy. They worked from morning to evening, yet came home with almost nothing. But God, in His mercy, changed my life through a gentleman called Mr. Glenn Flaten, a Rotarian from Ottawa, Canada. He became like a father to me, paying for my education, giving me chances to travel, teaching me life skills, and helping me start up. He even supported my younger sister, who is now a trained midwife nurse. Though Mr. Glenn passed away before I completed school, his kindness became the foundation of my divine calling and the birth of Village Vision Care (VVC), which started as a small CBO in 2019. I made a vow to God that I would spend the rest of my life helping others, just as Mr. Glenn helped me. Today, I serve not only my people but also my God in honor of Glenn’s love and generosity. May his soul rest in eternal peace. I miss him dearly. After sharing this dream with a fellow believer, we moved forward. Today, VVC is a fully registered NGO, serving vulnerable communities in Uganda and aiming to expand across the country. I now serve passionately with my whole heart as a volunteer. I speak for the voiceless, stand with the fatherless, and bring hope to the poor, struggling, and broken. My biggest inspiration comes from the Holy Bible: "Learn to do right. Seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless. Plead the case of the widow." -Isaiah 1:17 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Defend the rights of the poor and needy." -Proverbs 31:8-9 Who We Are Village Vision Care (VVC) is a fully registered nonprofit, community-rooted organization in Uganda. We work with the most vulnerable groups, especially in undeserved villages. These include: • Orphaned and vulnerable children • Children with disabilities • Struggling youth and out-of-school teenagers • Single and young mothers • Widows and elderly persons with no family support • Families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty since COVID19. What We Do 1. Health and WASH We teach about hygiene and disease prevention, promote clean water access, and improve sanitation. We also support menstrual hygiene education in schools and communities. 2. Child Support and Education We help vulnerable children stay in school by providing school supplies, fees, uniforms, and mentorship. 3. Livelihood Empowerment We help poor families start small income activities such as backyard gardening, poultry keeping, piggery, goat rearing, and many more local businesses. 4. Skills Development and Youth Training We train youth and young mothers in employable skills like: • Tailoring • Knitting and embroidery • Hairdressing • Crafts making • Computer & Phone Repair • Local bakery & outside catering • Briquette making • Wood working • Welding • Motorcycle repair • Creative & Language Skills Training • Jerry and soap making etc We also help them form digitalized Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) to build a culture of saving and sustainability. Digital & Device Repair Skills (Computer & Phone Repair) We train youth in hands-on computer and smartphone repair, helping them start small businesses or get local jobs. Combined with basic computer literacy, this equips them for self-reliance in today’s digital world. Creative & Language Skills Training We offer practical and creative skills that open doors to global opportunities: Piano & Music-Builds creativity, discipline, and confidence, especially for vulnerable children German Language-Helps learners prepare for exams (A1, A2, B1) needed for jobs and study abroad, especially through programs like Malengo French Language (Coming Soon)-Will support youth, especially girls, to gain more international access through language fluency Why This Matters Our main focus is to equip underprivileged youth with the skills and qualifications needed to access fully funded international scholarships, like those offered by Malengo and others. We train them to meet requirements and confidently step into global academic and professional spaces. Your support directly helps break the cycle of poverty, opening doors to education, employment, and dignity. You are helping shape vulnerable youth into globally competitive, confident, and self-reliant individuals. Environmental Care We teach climate awareness, promote tree planting, lead community clean-ups, and encourage the use of clean energy in rural areas. Our Impact So Far • Helped over 45 children and youth access education in primary & secondary • Supported 4 elderly persons, 5 widows, and 4 children/youths with disabilities • Carried out climate education and clean-up campaigns in various communities Gratitude and Milestone Update-Masaka VKM Cluster Even with limited funding and restricted operations in Masaka City, we have: • Supported over 512 vulnerable households • Formed 30 VSLA ( Village Savings and Loans Associations) groups We are excited to announce a major milestone in our journey of empowering vulnerable youth. The Masaka VKM Cluster, led by Village Vision Care (VVC) in collaboration with Masaka City NGO Forum and Kisembo Foundation Uganda, has officially been accredited as a Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) Assessment Center under Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports-Center Number: MAC/1523. This incredible achievement was made possible through the generous support of the Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF). Because of their timely and visionary funding, we can now guarantee that every skilled trainee under our programs will receive an official certificate from the Ministry of Education, a life-changing credential that opens doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and dignity. Through our ongoing Empowering Youth through Data and Community Development (EYDCD) program, which runs through 2028, many young lives are already being transformed. Among them, the following have successfully completed their training, have been assessed by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), and are now only waiting for their certificates from the Ministry. We are excited to share that we shall soon post our award ceremony on our social media pages, as we celebrate these courageous and determined youth: • 119 boys trained in motorcycle repair • 160 youth (1 boy and 159 girls) trained in hairdressing • 118 youth (28 boys and 90 girls) trained in tailoring All have successfully completed their assessments and now await their nationally recognized certificates. Most importantly, every learner graduating from Primary Seven at Beacon Education Centers, will also receive this official DIT-recognized skills certification, making our students more than just educated, they will be employable, equipped, and empowered to succeed. This is the kind of transformation made possible when compassionate partners like CRVPF and visionary donors like you stand with us. Together, we are not only educating children, we are building futures. The need is still great in nearby rural sub-counties like Nyendo Mukungwe, Kimaanya Kabonera, Kyesiiga, Kyanamukaaka, and Bukakata, where poverty, HIV/AIDS, and school dropouts are still very high. Why VVC Stands to Help Village Vision Care (VVC) is guided by faith, compassion, and action. We don’t give handouts, we walk with people and help them rise to stand on their own. We believe when one life is changed, a whole family and community is changed. This is not for fame or profit, it is a divine calling. A way of serving God and HIS people with love and purpose. In Uganda today: Over 10 million people are living in poverty, struggling daily to feed their families and meet basic needs. About 2.4 million children aged 0-18 years are orphaned, many due to HIV/AIDS and the effects of COVID-19. Many of these children are ending up on the streets. Young girls are forced into sex work at a very young age. Boys get addicted to drugs, others become mad youths seen everywhere in towns and trading centres. Many turn into deadly night robbers or even join terrorist groups just to survive. 12% of people aged 15 years and above have never gone to school or had any formal education. 14% of children aged 5-17 years are in child labour, working hard for small money instead of being in school. Sadly, many children with disabilities are kept hidden in households, without care or education, as families fear shame or can’t afford help. A Humble Call for Support We invite friends, partners, and donors from around the world to join us. Every child we help, every youth we train, and every family we support is living proof that together, we can build a brighter future. Kindly/humbly, let us join hands to transform lives and bring hope to the most forgotten people in Uganda. ''Mending broken hearts, together we create history''
