Mission Statement

Naomi House & Jacksplace are hospices that support seriously ill children, young adults and their families from seven counties in southern England. We offer a full palliative care service that includes respite, emergency and end of life care for life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults. We are the only organisation in the region to offer these services; 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, completely free of charge. Our specially trained staff provide individualised nursing care that helps to enhance short lives and allows families to make the most of their precious time with their children. We are there for families, offering practical, emotional and spiritual support.

About This Cause

Naomi House is a purpose built children’s hospice that provides a homely environment to children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We provide individualised specialist care and much needed respite for the whole family, enabling them to feel refreshed, rested and supported through the good days, difficult days and last days. We are there for families when they need it most. Caring for a child with a life-limiting condition can be stressful and exhausting, and each family takes advantage of the respite care in different ways: sometimes the whole family will stay at the hospice, giving parents and siblings the chance to relax, while others will leave their child in the charity’s care while they recharge their batteries at home or on holiday. Jacksplace opened in 2010, a new hospice for teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 25. Jacksplace has six bedrooms equipped with specialist beds, hoists and state of the art en-suite bathrooms. We offer the same range of care and support available at Naomi House, including family support, a dedicated activity team, end of life care and post bereavement support. Jacksplace came about through the realisation that children are living longer due to advances in medical technology and treatments and that the adult hospice network was ill-equipped to offer the care that they needed. Jacksplace provides the independence, dignity and privacy these young people demand and deserve. Throughout the year, to give families the opportunity to meet others and share experiences, we provide a Remembering Day for bereaved families, a Grandparents’ Day for bereaved grandparents and regular sibling activity days and events. Inevitably, there are some sad times at Naomi House and Jacksplace. On these occasions, we also offer The Butterfly Suite in Naomi House and Ocean Suite in Jacksplace: a special suite of rooms for families after the death of their child while we help with the funeral arrangements. Specialist bereavement counsellors give support to families for as long as they are needed.
