Mission Statement
Croft Playgroup is a charity led organisation, jointly managed by a committee and was founded in 1972. We offer full and part-time placements for children aged between 3 and 5 years old. We have two rooms, Oak and Willow, which both open out onto a wonderful outside space in the Old Town area of Swindon, SN1. We are proud to run a caring setting in which the children are happy, content and benefit from our stimulating facilities and well-qualified team. Our priority is to ensure the happiness and safety of each child and to promote their learning and development. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and provide a strong play-led ethos, to ensure that every child has access to a wide range of experiences to meet their individual needs. Supporting the children in our care and enabling them to express themselves and learn through play is at the heart of what we do and believe in. We also believe in working closely with parents and carers to achieve the best possible outcome for the children in our care. We want to create a welcoming and inclusive environment at Croft Playgroup in which all children feel valued and safe.
About This Cause
At Croft Playgroup we recognise that play is vital to the healthy and well-rounded development of all children. In order to best meet the needs of the children our curriculum intent is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage along with Anna Ephgrave's "Planning in the Moment" approach, centring on the importance of child-led play, positive relationships and valuing individuals in an inclusive and loving atmosphere. We understand that children need time to play and explore in a workshop style environment which provides them with equal opportunities to be creative, explore, experiment and take risks. Our experienced and well qualified team provide support, question, encourage and observe children to gain a full understanding of their personalities, interests and abilities. We enjoy working closely with other playgroups and local schools to further improve our provision. "When children are engrossed in their play their brains are making new synapse connections and they are making progress." Following an "In the Moment" approach to supporting the children's learning involves us enabling the children's play through: a calm and enabling environment with open ended, high quality resources across the curriculum both inside and outdoors, adults who go to the children to support their play and learning, opportunities to excite and engage, giving the children time to express their emotions and supporting them to understand their feelings, keeping their emotional and physical health and well-being at the heart of everything we do, establishing and maintaining positive relationships enabling shared expertise of parents, carers and staff.
