About This Cause
Founded in 1992, our charity has grown, mainly due to social media and recommendation, to become a successful, positively influenced shelter for animals and a wellbeing hub for those suffering with confidence issues and mental health battles. We receive weekly vet visits and in addition have people socialise, rehabilitate, groom and love our cats and kittens whilst evaluating their suitability as pets. Those cats not deemed suitable as pets are found homes were they can live away from people in barns, stables, sheds or wendy houses. All our cats over five months of age are neutered and microchipped. They also receive at least one vaccination and flea/worm treatment as do our kittens. In addition to cats we have an 18ft guinea pig enclosure for lonely guineapigs to live together as a herd. There are ponies, pigs, goats and hens on site too. Work experience students from schools, colleges and universities spend time in an educational capacity at our shelter, which also delivers a "Book Buddies" reading programme where children and adults can read to our animals bringing joy to the animals and the readers alike. Our shelter has had upto 122 cats and kittens at one time during the summer months. We are funded mainly by our Mardol, Shrewsbury shop as well as fundraising events and our cat Sponsorship Scheme, details of which can be found on our website.
