Mission Statement
OUR VISION is: A future in which all children and young people’s creativity is unlocked, nurtured and celebrated. OUR MISSION is: Eastside’s mission is to develop the creative thinking of children and young people across London through direct participation in the arts, culture and creative programmes. We do this to nurture a new generation of confident, connected problem-solvers equipped to build a better society.
About This Cause
Eastside exists to help young people develop their creative thinking, so that they are able to become the problem-solvers of tomorrow, empowered to build a better society. We achieve this by engaging children and young people through direct participation in the arts, enabling them to work with professional artists and creative practitioners, both in and outside school, with a particular focus on areas in London where our help is needed most. At Eastside we are interested in developing new cultures of learning in which children and young people connect positively, develop their inherent creativity and grow their confidence and life skills. We understand that learning experiences bear a significant influence on young people’s preparation for their future existence - one in which they will become society’s central figures, shaping the way the world operates around them. Eastside delivers 400 + artist led creative workshops inspiring over 3,500 children and young people across London each year in over 15,000 contact sessions. We bring excellent creative opportunities to young people that would not otherwise have such chances helping them to build up their confidence, their connections, life skills and opening up fresh opportunities We are looking to sign up 100 new donors in this our 25th anniversary year - sincere thanks for your help. In the 2017/18 year Eastside delivered: We employed 102 artists and creative practitioners to deliver 423 artist led creative sessions inspiring over 3,000 young people across 12,000 contact sessions. We worked with schools across London to deliver 17 performances of 6 new productions reaching 5,830 audience members We worked with young people to create 10 original new films seen by 185 audience members at 2 screening events, achieving total youtube views of 17,242 We supported 19 students to achieve their Silver arts awards
