We aim to reach out to those people who find it most difficult to access help, and to whom organisations find it difficult to reach out to. Our guiding principle is to empower such communities to make them inclusive and cohesive members of wider society promoting tolerance, peace and goodwill”
About This Cause
Muslim Global Relief (MGR) is a registered UK charity set up in 2000 to help those most in need around the world, irrespective of creed, caste, colour or gender. MGR vision is to see a society where poverty and suffering have been overwhelmed and every one can live and enjoy their rights without any discrimination. We work with the poorest and most vulnerable communities, developing long-term solutions to the problem of poverty. We help people and communities build back safer and stronger for the future, and we respond to emergencies around the world. OUR VALUES We are a faith-based organisation, inspired by Islamic values, we strive to work in an accountable and transparent way, with excellence, compassion, trust, respect, justice and empowerment. HOW WE WORK • We meet with villagers to understand their needs • We mobilise support in identified villages to provide resources and expertise • The entire village works with us to build a solution • The project is completed and villagers take ownership of it • The new project helps to lift the entire community • Then we move to the next village in need. Beneficiaries of MGR MGR cater for the vulnerable people under its different projects. Our beneficiaries are men, women, children and people who are at risk and seeking support and assistance. WHERE WE WORK Currently, MGR is working in many developing countries across the world including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Ghana, and Lebanon to name a few. THEMATIC PRIORITIES OF OUR WORK Emergency Relief (Food Aid/Shelter/Winter Relief Protection) We provide humanitarian assistance and relief in the context of disasters, conflict and other emergencies. Livelihoods We assist in livelihoods development for rural, urban and displaced communities. Education We improve access to quality education for children particularly orphan children in vulnerable, marginalised and displaced communities. Food Security We assist in the development of safe, sustainable and affordable food systems to increase food security long-term. WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) We improve access to clean water, sanitation and improve hygiene practices and awareness among vulnerable and displaced communities. Healthcare We support local health centres, hospitals and mobile clinics with medication, equipment and training for staff. We ensure access to healthcare for the most vulnerable people, particularly women and children. Since its inception, we have strived to achieve our vision through our relief, development and advocacy work with vulnerable communities across the globe, regardless of race, gender or belief. Our approach is different from other charities as we work for the rehabilitation of villages and empower the inhabitants with sustainable and long lasting projects. Initially aimed to provide emergency relief, Muslim Global Relief advanced its method of implementation later and decided to implement a one village approach by adopting “One Village At A Time”. The aim of this is to provide a chain of sustainable development projects in order to rehabilitate a village at a time by providing long-term development programmes such as: I. Water and Sanitation II. Community Mosque III. Education IV. Emergency and Disaster Management V. Health care VI. Feed Me VII. Economic Empowerment VIII. Ramadan and Qurbani (seasonal projects) We try our hardest to build things that will last for generations and we support those who want to help themselves out of poverty. Using the best of the “low or no cost” technologies we bring donors and recipients closer together to generate better mutual transparency, understanding and therefore trust. All our projects aim to provide quality services to our beneficiaries’ particularly desperate people of any society. Under our projects, there are a blend of emergency support, short term relief and longer term sustainability interventions. Muslim Global Relief as "UK'S Best Charity of the Year 2018" MGR achieved a major milestone this year being awarded "The Charity of the Year 2018" from amongst many of the well-known and established UK based charities, winning the Charity of the Year Award at The British Muslim Awards 2018. This is evidence of MGR's excellence, dedication and inclusivity, and it will give us more strength to keep going and have an even greater positive impact on the communities we serve.
