Mission Statement
Solace Women’s Aid exists to end the harm done through Violence against Women and Girls. SOLACE is a leading specialist charity in the UK supporting women and children experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence across London. Whatever form violence comes in, from rape to trafficking to relationships based on psychological or financial control, we work to end it. We know that escaping the effects of violence can be the hardest thing to ever do. That’s why the lifesaving support that Solace provides to more than 24,000 women, children and young people each year is so important. Solace exists to end the harm done through gender-based violence. Our aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse as well as providing services to meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse. We find creative and innovative ways to support thousands of women and children each year from crisis to recovery. We also run prevention and awareness schemes with children and young people, and adult perpetrator programmes to challenge and change harmful behaviour.
About This Cause
Last year, Solace supported more than 24,000 women and children to build safe lives and strong futures through our 6 key areas of support that cover three key strands, provision, prevention and partnerships: - Safe accommodation: providing support and safe housing - Children and young people: prevention and provision services to ensure children have safe futures. - Therapeutic support: group work and 1 to 1 counselling for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence - Rape Crisis: Support to women aged 13+ who have experienced sexual violence - Advice and Advocacy: Support, including a domestic abuse helpline, to women who are experiencing domestic abuse - Training: to ensure that people, and professionals, across London can recognise and respond to domestic abuse
