Mission Statement
Global Action Nepal is a dynamic educational and social NGO working across Nepal.
About This Cause
Global Action Nepal (GAN) is an innovative social and educational development organization. Since its establishment in 1996, our aim has been to improve the quality of education and to provide basic health to the unreached children of Nepal whilst using a sustainable holistic development approach where there are meaningful partnerships with all stakeholders. All of GAN’s projects are grounded in the key principles of the “Education for All”, designed to meet the following three objectives: i) Ensuring access to and equity in education; ii) Enhancing the quality and relevance of education; and iii) Improving efficiency and institutional capacity within the education system. However, access to education is not the same as simply “going to school” – minimum levels of infrastructure and a child-friendly environment are fundamental requirements if children are to experience a complete education. Gender sensitivity, an interactive pedagogy and opportunities for children to enhance the development of their social and emotional life skills are also critical. These factors are prerequisites for quality education, and to narrow the gap between the "haves” and the “have-nots" so as to create an equitable society in long run. In short, GAN believes that children are not only the future of the country, but that they are also active citizens in the present, and the way in which real and lasting change must come about. GAN’s Vision - An equitable, sustained just society. GAN’s Main Goal - To improve the quality of life and to promote human rights and lifelong learning with the unreached people of Nepal. GAN’s Objectives - To improve the quality and relevance of basic school education; - To conduct research and advocacy in education and health related sectors; - To ensure inclusion, access and equity for all children in basic health and education; - To develop the social and emotional life skills of children and young people; - To promote volunteerism and the exchange of culture through the involvement of national and international volunteers in the development process; - To protect human rights, focusing in particular on the rights of women and children.
