Mission Statement
Our Mission To provide free, confidential and impartial advice to those who need it, and to campaign on the policies and practices that affect the lives of people in the borough of Tunbridge Wells in Kent and nationally.
About This Cause
We give people the advice, support and confidence they need to face the issues affecting their lives today. Our service is free, impartial and available to everyone, but the vast majority of beneficiaries are those experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage, including people living with physical disabilities, poor mental health, poverty, debt, relationship issues, domestic abuse and homelessness or threat of eviction. We deliver services that fit around the way people live; we operate from two main centres in Tunbridge Wells and Cranbrook. Our advisers also have a presence in the Gateway in Tunbridge Wells town centre, the Mental Health Resource Group Hub, six GP surgeries, a drop-in for homeless people, a foodbank and Pembury Library. We also run a home-visiting service for people who are housebound because of age or disability. Advice is provided five days per week over the phone via Adviceline and face to face at a range of levels, from short, one-off interventions to in-depth casework which is tailored to our beneficiaries’ needs and often involves more than one contact. We also campaign on local issues, such as unfair or ineffective social policy, affecting the lives of the most vulnerable in our community.
