Mission Statement
EFTC's mission is to break the cycle of poverty through education and empowerment. We work in partnership with disadvantaged families, children and young adults in Guatemala, Central America to ensure they develop the tools they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.
About This Cause
Education for the Children founded the School of Hope in 2003 and supports over 675 children and young people aged between 5-22 in a deprived area of Guatemala. Poverty, high levels of gang crime, alcoholism and domestic abuse are just a few of the everyday hardships many of our students face. We only accept the very poorest students from the area who otherwise wouldn't benefit from an education, and by including a nutrition programme and a social support service, our vision is to see each and every student break free from the cycle of poverty through finding good employment upon graduation.
