Aspiring Communities Together is a strong, robust and well established community organisation in Sheffield with an expertise in delivering to BME communities. We are a citywide organisation that delivers high quality services with a focus on the Fir Vale, and Burngreave areas. Our approach to community development puts the community’s needs at the heart of everything we do
About This Cause
Aspiring Communities Together (ACT) is an inclusive Sheffield based community organization. ACT delivers services that aim to tackle persistent social and economic disadvantages and educational underachievement to the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community across Sheffield and the South Yorkshire region. We deliver the following services: • Adult learning programme – this project delivers basic skills and ESOL to refugee and asylum seekers and new arrivals. 80% of our cohort are women • MESP- Older people advocacy project • Older people health engagement project • Learning Champions- We employ 2 local area learning champions who work across the area to engage over 300 adults who would not normally access learning provision. • Advice Centre- we deliver a welfare and benefits advice service which meets the needs of local people • Healthy Living Centre-Established in March 2016, the healthy living centre comprises: • A community café • A women’s only gym service which has over 200 women registered
