Mission Statement
New Citizens' Gateway (NCG) legally known as Barnet Refugee Service is a registered charity since April 2005, works in partnership with individuals and agencies to improve the quality of life and promote the physical, social and mental well-being of asylum seekers and refugees who live work or study in London. At the core of service delivery is its belief in the positive contribution refugees and asylum seekers can make within a culturally and ethnically diverse society. NCG is committed to involving asylum seekers and refugees in the planning, decision making and activities of the charity, believing this is the best way to achieve its aims.
About This Cause
NCG is an independent registered charity working in partnership with individuals and agencies to improve the quality of life and promote the physical, social and mental well-being of refugees and asylum seekers in London. Our main aim is to support and empower refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives and integrate into UK society. We support over 3000 refugees and asylum seekers each year and try to achieve our aims through our Holistic Model of Support which includes below various activities: Advice and Information, mentoring, volunteering and Employment, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Provision (registered as a centre for Trinity College ESOL Skills for Life exams), Women’s Group, Men's Group, Advocacy and Peer Support, one-to-one counselling, Couples and family therapy, Group therapy, psycho-educational workshops, Youth Support Provision, Youth psychosocial activities, Youth Sports activities, Mothers’ and Toddlers’ Group, Gardening and Ecotherapy, Homework Club, Research involvement in partnership with universities, Health access/promotion Workshops, International Internship and many other activities. Our activities aim to promote the physical and mental well-being of vulnerable people through integrated activities which enable social cohesion and empower these people to become actors for positive change in the wider community.
