Mission Statement
Red Balloon supports young people who self-exclude from school and are missing out on education because of bullying or other trauma. We provide an academic and therapeutic programme to enable our students to get back on track and reconnect with society.
About This Cause
Red Balloon Learner Centres, established in 1996, offer a combined educational and therapeutic programme in a small community setting for young people who have self-excluded from school because of severe bullying, trauma and/or are struggling with mental health. We aim to: • raise young peoples’ self-esteem; • close any gaps in their learning; • prepare them for a return to mainstream education, employment, or training. Red Balloon provides a bespoke programme for each student, comprising of academic study, mentoring and therapy, and community re-engagement activities. We have Centres in Cambridge, Norwich, NW London, Worthing and Reading. In addition to our physical Centres we have an online provision called Red Balloon of the Air which caters to young people with higher needs that don't feel comfortable coming into a Centre, those who don't live near a Centre, or where Centre waitlists are too long.
