Mission Statement
Day and night, The Mission to Seafarers is on call for seafarers in over 200 ports around the world. With over 90% of world trade carried by sea, providing work to 1.7 million seafarers, we offer much needed practical, emotional and spiritual support through ship-visits, our seafarers' centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services. All of which is made possible by through our global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers. Our mission is to care for the shipping industry’s most important asset: its people. We are grateful for the constant acts of kindness that allow us, in turn, to serve the people that make sacrifices to keep our global economy afloat.
About This Cause
The Mission to Seafarers provides vital practical and emotional support to seafarers and their families. We are the first to notice when all is not well on board a ship. Our face to face ship visiting service has proved vital in saving lives of those who have concerns and anxieties. We support the families through our Family Support service in the Philippines, India and Myanmar. We operate WeCare training in social communications, financial wellbeing and suicide prevention. We also operate the Seafarers Happiness Index, an important barometer of seafarers' happiness. We are always open to working with companies in the industry in partnership. We also encourage individuals and companies to donate towards our important work.
