Mission Statement
MISSION STATEMENT The Sunshine Centre will work towards providing all families with children, access to high quality provision including leisure, health, education, and family support services, including support for parents who are seeking to return to work with employment related services, which will help lift children and families out of poverty. To bring together in a common effort, all persons wishing to promote the above objective in the area, by co-operative and mutually supportive activities, in accordance with the ‘Every Child Matters’ change for children agenda. To support the wider community by providing activities and educational opportunities which improve wellbeing, and encourages a cohesive and connected community. To promote the above objectives without discrimination to the detriment of any individual on the grounds of their colour, ethnic or national origin, disability, religious belief, sex, sexual orientation, political or other opinion.
About This Cause
The Sunshine Centre is a charity based in one of the two highest areas of deprivation in Oxfordshire. We support families through crisis and facilitate activities and educational opportunities, enabling individuals to make lasting changes and improve long term outcomes for their families and the trajectory of future generations. Interventions include, parenting courses, domestic abuse interventions for both victims and perpetrators, attachment promotion and social groups, financial assistance (we have a community larder, offer help with budgeting, administer Trussell Trust food bank vouchers and distribute good as new non- electrical equipment and clothing), one to one tailored support and signposting to other organisations in the area. We aim to give the most deprived in our community the tools to help them succeed and live happy fulfilled lives. Our organisation also runs a day care service for the community helping parents return to work and offering care for some of the most vulnerable children in the area. The two sides of the organisation are intrinsically linked, but whilst funding for our day care service is secured by fees and government funding our family support services are funded through charitable donations. During a recent celebration of 25 years of our work, recipients of our domestic abuse pathway services, gave testimonies to the changes it had made to their lives. Local dignitaries also gave speeches recognising that our organisation is essential to the improvement of well-being of the lives of residents in our area of Oxfordshire.
