Mission Statement
Reading FC Community Trust delivers activities out of 4 main pillars - Education, Sports Participation, Health and Social Inclusion/Community Cohesion with the primary objective of engaging with members of the local and surrounding communities to enhance lifestyles and communities through football and sport. Working alongside a number of local and national partners the Trust will help to tackle a number of social issues around young people using the brand of Reading FC to help communicate the message to over 4,000 participants on a weekly basis
About This Cause
Reading FC Community Trust represents Reading FC within the local and surrounding communities delivering a number of diverse activities through 4b main pillars - Health - Working alongside both the Premier League and the English Football League Trust the RFC Community Trust delivers the My Ability programme [Disability] to over 200 participants on a weekly basis. The project will engage with young people from special education need [SEN] schools offering them a opportunity of football and sport on a regular basis helping to increase a number of motor skills and social skills within young people with special needs. Additional to this the programme offers opportunities for over 16s to play in the local BOBI [disability league] league, with the opportunity of an elite pathway leading to represent the national team Sports Participation - Working very closely with the Premier League the RFC Community Trust delivers the PL Primary school sports programme within a number of primary schools within the local and surrounding areas with the key objectives being to - upskill teachers regarding coaching, help to increase levels of PE within schools, help increase levels of competition, deliver programmes of work which correspond with the national curriculum especially around numeracy, literacy and PSHE. Additional to this the Trust will deliver a number of activities for young people to participate in regardless of ability levels - after school clubs, lunch time clubs, soccer schools, development centres Social Inclusion / Community Cohesion - Working mainly in areas of deprivation the RFC Community Trust deliver a number of football based sessions [PL KIcks] alongside the Premier League encouraging young people from within targeted areas to engage with the Trust and get regular exercise rather than potentially creating anti social behaviour on the streets. Working with various communities to help develop a level of cohesion, offering those young people an education pathway within the Trust. The RFC Community Trust also work alongside both primary and secondary schools working specifically with those students who may be at risk of being excluded from their schools, delivering a number of intervention programmes both at the school and at the football club to help those participations change their approach to school, or make better decisions in and out of school. Education - Within a lot of the RFC Community Trust programmes are educational workshops which are delivered to help young people to tackle local social issues - knife and gun crime, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual health etc. The Trust will also work alongside secondary schools and colleges using football as the main engagement tool to keep both boys and girls in full time education over the age of 16 delivering football based courses over1 and 2 years. Working alongside the Princes Trust the RFC Community Trust delivers 3 twelve week programmes [Team programme] through out the year to 16 - 25 year olds to help - - uncover hidden talents and improve confidence - gain new skills and qualifications - mix with new people and make new friends - 3 in 4 young people who participate on these programmes will move onto work, education or training The RFC Community Trust is a charity which is funded heavily by national and local funding, we have the ability to change lives using football and sport as the main engagement tool using the Reading FC brand to help deliver our key topics
