Mission Statement

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, volunteers and fundraisers. We understand what life’s like with MS, and we support each other through the highs, lows and everything in between. And we’re driving research into more – and better – treatments. For everyone. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

About This Cause

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is caused when the body’s immune cells mistakenly attack myelin, the protective coating around nerves. Everyone’s MS is different, but common symptoms include loss of mobility, pain, spasms, fatigue, impaired vision, bladder and bowel problems and depression. More than 150,000 people in the UK have MS. In the UK people are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties. But the first signs of MS often start years earlier. Many people notice their first symptoms years before they get their diagnosis. Our My MS, My Needs survey conducted in 2022 showed that: · 72% of people with MS feel stressed and anxious. · 43% feel lonely. · There is a lack of cognitive support (84%), support keeping physically active (64%) and emotional support (60%) for people with MS. We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, volunteers and fundraisers. We understand what life’s like with MS, and we support each other through the highs, lows and everything in between. And we’re driving research into more, and better, treatments for everyone. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
