UN Women is the global champion for gender equality, and the elimination of violence against women and girls.
About This Cause
We are working for a world where every woman and girl has an equal opportunity to have SAFETY (freedom from violence, abuse and harassment), CHOICE over what path she chooses for her life, being paid fairly and equally for her contribution to society, and a VOICE - from allowing more women to reach leadership roles, to ensuring equal representation in politics and the media. UN Women is the only global organisation that works for gender equality worldwide at truly every level of society, from grassroots programmes serving the most vulnerable, to behavioural change campaigns and helping governments to design more gender-equal policy and legislation. This allows us to ensure real women's needs and voices are recognised and enshrined in normative change at the highest level. In the UK, we are working to support UN Women's global mission, as well as enacting its goals on home ground. A key focus during Covid-19 is supporting women and girls to be safe, healthy, and their voices heard.
