Mission Statement
FEAST's mission is Feeding and Empowering All Sustainably Together. We work to improve the nutrition, wellbeing, and health of people at risk of food insecurity. We work across several London boroughs, partnering with community groups and organisations to deliver impactful food security programmes in homeless hostels, mental health day centres, community centres and faith centres in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Westminster and Redbridge.
About This Cause
FEAST With Us (FEAST) is a London-based charity improving the nutrition, well-being and health of people at risk of food insecurity. FEAST was established in 2015 and supports individuals experiencing food insecurity in the community, primarily in the London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Westminster, Hackney, and Redbridge. Each week, we work with almost 400 people at risk of malnutrition and ill health, as a result of food insecurity. FEAST co-creates nutritious community meals and provides practical and experiential opportunities to learn about food, nutrition and cooking healthy affordable meals. We support and empower individuals, reduce social isolation and advocate for sustainable and affordable food systems. Our novel nutrition research and extensive networks of Voluntary, Community Services (VCS) and local council partnerships, drive systemic change in the communities in which we operate. However, FEAST is much more than a meal - through our services we: -Nourish those who need it most with regular nutritious cooked meals. -Support well-being and reduce loneliness through community dining and volunteering. -Empower people with skills and knowledge so they can climb the ‘Food Ladder’. -Promote sustainability by using surplus food as much as possible. -Influence change through research and sharing learnings. FEAST’s healthy eating on a budget programme, further empowers people by helping provide access to nutrition knowledge and developing practical cooking and budgeting skills. These programmes build confidence and empower people to make healthier choices to achieve nutritional independence.
