Mission Statement
The relief of children who are in need by reason of youth, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in such ways as the trustees in their absolute discretion from time to time think fit.
About This Cause
The main objective of Thrive North Ox is to provide practical support to children of struggling families in North Oxfordshire who, for whatever reason, have a genuine, urgent need. Usually, this need would be for specific basic items such as toiletries, school uniform, school shoes, a bed to sleep on or a rug to cover a bare floor following a sudden home move. Thrive has also provided support for children to join activities such as residential school trips and swimming lessons, that their families could simply not afford otherwise. Thrive North Ox is in touch with partnership schools’ Parent Support Advisors as well as Social Workers, School Nurses and Health Visitors. As the group becomes more established and funds grow, the aim is to extend the contact to include local nursery school leaders, the food bank, women’s refuges, and children’s centres. Staff in this network call on Thrive when they have a specific urgent request Thrive reviews each request and aims to swiftly provide what is needed. Most importantly Thrive will remain invisible to those families it supports, respecting the pride of those that the organisation has been able to help. The money required to fund this support is generated from local fundraising events, grants and donations.
