Mission Statement
Underdog International is a global charity based in the UK, whose motto is 'Children helping Dogs. Dogs helping Children'. We aim to help one million children and dogs by 2025.
About This Cause
We achieve our motto in three ways: 1. We educate children around the world about dogs: So that children learn how to take care of dogs and also learn life lessons about kindness and compassion. We run a Duke of Edinburgh award which teenagers can take part in, plus we have our ‘Underpups’ membership scheme for younger children. We also launched our Great British Bark Off this summer, educating 60,000 children across the UK about how to safely interact with dogs (plus have lots of fun!). 2. We find loving homes for homeless dogs: We rescue and find homes for stray and abandoned dogs from all over the world, including from the meat trade in China, and strays from Cyprus, Romania, Bosnia, Greece and Mauritius. We have rehomed over 600 dogs since our launch just two years ago. 3. We bring therapy dogs into schools: Playing with dogs helps children build confidence. We have a school’s programme bringing dogs into schools across the UK. We also have a similar programme in Uganda and Romania, plus we are preparing two new projects in South Africa and Tanzania.
