Mission Statement

We are a passionate collection of volunteers with the ambition to help and support the homeless and disadvantaged in our community. To relieve poverty in South West London by serving the homeless and needy as a community and without judgment. As a community, supporting those in the SW London area who are homeless and in need. Poverty can hold many negative connotations and we don't want to offend anyone.

About This Cause

Our open air food stalls are every Wednesdays and Saturdays outside Tooting Broadway Market (22-25 Tooting High Street SW17 0SN), we start serving at 6pm sharp. A network of local volunteers, local food businesses, regular sponsors and donors help us provide fresh produce, baked goods, hot food, nutritious and delicious dishes. And of course conversations which for many is the highlight for them coming to see us. We also facilitate outreach within Wandsworth and surrounding areas providing hot food, food packs, sleeping bags and other essential supplies. Through our outreach efforts and presence at our stalls, we aim to be a trusted presence in our community to our guests, a presence that makes them feel acknowledged, integrated and valued. Additionally, we deliver to refugee centres, hospitals and shelters. The Tooting Community Foodbank (Scouts Hall, 19 Church Lane SW17 9PP) operates a drop in collection service every Friday from 8am-10:30am, to anyone in need. There's no need for a voucher. We encourage those who can to drop off donations at this time too. We are always in need of food, toiletries, winter packs, sleeping bags and other essential item We aim to act as a practical and emotional support network, providing stability to our guests, and adequate resources to signpost the best services and charities to meet their needs. We provide a warm space on Wednesdays 1-3.30pm where guests can have a cooked hot meal and a pudding. Hot drinks and add to this a space to make friends, play a board game, do some creative art work and maybe just have a chat with one of our volunteers. We know that many people are experiencing loneliness and when they come to the lounge we can see the smiles on their faces and this is what we love about holding this space. Mondays 11.30am to 3.30pm we offer an additional warm space At Tooting community kitchen the sister charity to MindworksUK, already have the Foodbank and the Soup Kitchens under the Warm Spaces Wandsworth project! Our WEEKLY Creative Workshops will take place Mondays and Wednesdays 11.30am – 15.30pm We will have a team of volunteers providing activities such as, writing, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, arts n craft making, creating storybooks from the untold stories of our guests, creating a drama piece and so much more over the course of the year…. The impact on mood and mental health of our guests through the projects has been a joy to watch as loneliness is often one of the many issues they have to face daily. And there’s nothing more amazing than watching them smile. It turns out we have a very talented bunch too! This has made us even more determined to work harder for homelessness and people in need of support and it is a great opportunity to make even more of a difference into their lives.
