Mission Statement
Many Tears' mission is to offer a safe haven to any dog in need of help and a safe place to stay no matter where it has come from. They will stay in our care, no matter how long that may be, until a wonderful forever home is found and takes them home. As well as dogs who are surrendered to us from homes, this includes those who have been abandoned, neglected and mistreated. We work tirelessly to ensure each arrival is treated with the respect it deserves and ensure it receives whatever medical and rehabilitation care it needs. At Many Tears we absolutely believe that every animal deserves to be treated with respect, love and kindness. They should be able to live free from pain, fear and distress of any kind and from the moment they enter our gates that this is what we do for them. For many of the dogs who arrive here this is very often the first time they have ever experienced gentle hands and loving hearts and our dedicated staff and volunteers do everything they can to start to help them believe that the world can be a good place and that they are loved. Although we are primarily a dog rescue, our promise to every animal who comes through our doors is that they will get all the love, care and attention they deserve and that this is their first stepping stone to their new life. Many Tears will never put an animal to sleep unless we are absolutely compelled to due to a significant medical reason.
About This Cause
Many Tears Animal Rescue is a small Not For Profit rescue based in Wales. We primarily take ex-breeding dogs but also take in a number of dogs from the pounds, public hand-ins and some dogs from rescues abroad too. Although small in size, we are always busy and have around 250 foster carers who look after dogs in their homes, as well as our kennels in Carmarthenshire. We rely on donations and kindness to keep going. We rehome approximately 3,000 dogs per year and many of the dogs come to us having never lived in a home before. They often arrive needing veterinary care and our on site vet and volunteer vets spay and neuter all the adult dogs in the rescue as well as carrying out other procedures such as treating ear and eye infections along with much bigger problems like orthopaedic surgeries, heart operations and cataract surgery. The costs of these can be vast but can transform the lives of the dogs. As well as dogs we rehome a smaller number of cats and other animals and we have an equestrian centre with rescued horses and ponies on site. We are so much more than a rescue centre... we also run many educational and friendship groups and welcome so many volunteers to the rescue to help out. We encourage groups who support people from all walks of life to come and spend time with the animals and this can be massively beneficial to both the volunteers and the animals they are helping to care for. In this way we have supported those with additional needs, youth offenders, people battling addiction, as well as students, home educated children and anyone who feels lonely or needs a friend. When the Coronavirus arrived all our fundraising was cancelled and we have struggled massively since then. We usually rely on Christmas Fayres, Summer Dog Shows and store fundraisers to stay afloat as we receive no government funding and cannot afford to advertise for support. We desperately need to keep going, so many animals lives depend on us being here for them. We are grateful for every donation we receive, no matter how big or small. Vet bills. food bills. utility costs and staff wages add up to far more than we receive in adoption fees. We will continue to fight to keep going but our costs are vast. We need your help to continue to do what we do best... saving animals.
