Mission Statement
We are Community TechAid, a grassroots south London charity whose aim is to permanently lift marginalised communities out of digital poverty. Our mission is to provide our community with the three fundamentals of digital inclusion: access to technology, connectivity and the knowledge and skills to access the online world. To date we have supported over 5000 people across our community through access to technology and digital skills. Help us today!
About This Cause
Community TechAid exists to end digital poverty by providing sustainable access to the technology, skills and opportunities to get online. We are an award winning charity who work with people who due to financial hardship are unable to afford a device or with those who lack digital skills and confidence. Through our circular economy, we repair, refurbish and reuse unwanted technology, including laptops and smartphones, and pass them back into the local community. We deliver workshops and digital skills sessions to increase participants' confidence, digital literacy and overall well-being, helping them to fully engage with their device and experience the benefits of being online. Our work has enabled many users to engage in online courses, catch up with loved ones and develop their social interests, alleviating feelings of isolation and boredom, in turn improving mental health. We help to buld confidence and fill the digital support gap in our community and provide beneficiaries with an active digital support network. We also support our community to ethically and safely recycle technology, preventing e-waste from landfill and encouraging repair and reuse of items. Digital exclusion is a major barrier and we help give our beneficiaries fair and equal access to services and opportunities, helping to break cycles of deprivation and to secure positive longer term outcomes. For our community in south London there is no alternative to what we do. Digital inclusion without our intervention would remain an impossibility.
